RP and Gurkha are still pretty much universally loathed, with Graycliff, Red Dot and Macanudo falling somewhere a little less loathed. People love Ligaas well as davidoff and opus x.
I hear Significantly less cries of overpriced these days on the nice sticks.
Lots of of good ones out there--my father, crowned heads, Tatuaje, fuente, black label, EPC, Torano, Oliva, the list goes on of good sticks (and I have not had enough coffee to list more).

Yes, You would think so with the exposure we get to wise council here in our little clubhouse but, there are folks out there still smoking them and still proud of themselves for it. Weirdos and lost souls.
haha, I love this discussion. It's cigar snobbery at its best. Keep it coming
I'm so glad this thread was bumped because if there's one thing we need around here is more negative opinions on cigars we think need to be brought down a peg or two.

Haha sorry about that. That's not what I was going for. It's just that I'm in the process of stocking a coolidor, and wanted to see what people thought about cigars I'm not as familiar with - i.e. newer lines.
Maybe should have gone with most underrated cigars

No! no! no! Pay no attention to my silly silly attempt at jokes. I'm picking on all the cigar snobs. And, I certainly wasn't blaming you. I was truly glad for an opportunity to pick on all my snob buddies.
Im a newborn to the cigar life, but the three Cohibas I have had have been underwhelming to say the least. I didn't hate them but the hype was not there.
Send me all those over priced and over rated sticks I'll smoke'm because I hate them so much. List should include Opus's, CC's and esp. a Davidoff Royal Salomone. Yuck!!

Gurkha in general due mostly to price, Davidoff, due to way too much $$ for way too little everything except construction. They are made well, but so far they have all tasted like crap and had poor to ok aroma and draw. For the most part, I think anything over $15 a stick can be outdone by a lot of less expensive sticks, so it could be along list.
Gurkha is pure **** and everyone (well mostly everyone) knows it so I wouldn't say they are over rated. For me the feral flying pig was a let down. I really like the UF-13 and dirty rat but the pig was disappointing.

I think the Nicaraguan and Winston Churchill lines are top notch and worth the money. Haven't had much exposure to others so can't say much else. I do like Opus X when I can find them retail but I think the anejo are better and quite honestly I'd rather have a don carlos from the af brand

Oh yea give me a DC #2 or a Double Robusto with 5 plus years on them and I am in seegar heaven. Of course it's a Fuente so that would likely be in the over rated and over priced category.

Sad to say most are over rated and some just under rated. One of my favorite cigars is the don Arturo gran anixversario... Some may say it sucks and isn't worth the money or some will agree. Opinions are what they are I'm sure I don't like many sticks others really enjoy. That being said I think what ever you really like right now is over rated and should be sent to a good victim for disposal! Oh and for the most part and that's 99.9% of them Gurkhas really do suck!
Only kidding. I love it when these threads pop up. It shows just how subjective this little hobby of ours is. I have thrown a lot of half smoked "Great" cigars in the fire pit, and I enjoy a lot of cigars that others don't like. Opus is a great example. Very complex and expensive cigar that you either love or hate. Personally I love them, but I would be hesitant to tell someone to try a $30 cigar that they have a 50/50 chance of hating.
Graycliff 1666, good smoke, but definitely not worth 12 to 15$. I like Gurkhas, not in love with em, but they're pretty good but a bit overpriced.
Hmmmm? Good to know, never heard of Graycliff and they sounded like yardgars to hear the first few postings, but then I read this one and was happy I hadvsmoked one as a gift-liked it a lot-but still don't know anything about them.
I'm not a Ghurka fan based on past experiences, too many product lines, very little flavor across the many lines and (my pet peeve) rampant construction problems.
Liga Privada I haven't tried, but my thoughts are well posted on this stick ($18.50 @ my BnM-Sheesh!). Opus, Cohiba both follow suit (I don't think my BnM carries them). Davidoff, we have store here, but I don't plan on visiting in this lifetime (smoked a so-call Davidoff 2nd and found it bland). I smoked an Ashton, cluless to its pedigree (knew it might be ultra premium, but unsure) and found it to be a stout smoke-but, not for me. I had my first Macunudo Robust a few days ago; it was a very underwhelming smoke.
One flawless example of the most overrated cigar... Gurkha HMR's hahaha!!
Brett
I think it was kenlight that actually smoked one and said he wouldn't of payed more then $10 for it lol...as for the owner of Gurkha well he doesn't smoke cigars! He will when in front of camera but at events and all of that will not smoke!
Maybe your palate is simply not sophisticated enough to properly enjoy a $1500 cigar.
But, what if I got it marked down to $750.00?

I have yet to smoke anything from Argyle that I have liked. I know they are not an expensive brand, but I still felt gypped. They aren't even worth the $2 - $5 they usually sell at.

I believe being over rated is confused with over priced. There are a ton of $10-$15 cigars that are great….. if they were $6-$9 cigars. We also over look consistency when we talk about cigars like “over rated” Padron or Davidoff. Do we really expect a totally mind blowing experience if we do spend over $15 or should we expect the same exact experience consistently every time?
I do not think either Padron nor Davidoff is over rated

That is an interesting point! One of the reasons I haven't liked Argyle cigars, a reason I should have mentioned earlier, is that most of them seem to have issues with uneven burn. So not only have I not found one a really liked the taste of, but I often come across ones I can't even finish properly due to shoddy burning or draw issues.
Consistency is certainly something I would expect from a higher priced cigar, and would help justify the higher price.

It didn't really ring a bell, but I think I may have seen them in a cigar catalog a while ago.
I got one in a random sampler a few years back. Not worth more than $3.00 and I wouldn’t buy them.
