Very sorry to hear this, brother. I'll be thinking of you in the days to come.
On a related note, I once wrote a research proposal concerning post-surgical confusion in hip surgery patients. Hip surgery has been noted to have just about the highest incidence of confusion of any surgery, and no one knows exactly why. It can be quite scary for the family.
Possible causes include pain, hypothermia, blood loss, micro-clotting leading to transient ischemic conditions in the brain among others. Interestingly, one thing I saw in my researching the research was that accupuncturists put the needles in the hip region to treat confusion. A possible link? I don't know.
The good news is that it usually passes in a couple weeks, and they usually have no memory of it. It's like, one day they wake up and suddenly you've got your Mom / Dad / whoever back. So, if you see it, be patient, it will most likely resolve.
(And don't yell at the nurses, it's not their fault, and it doesn't help.)

She's doing better, more herself and less delusions, I'm exhausted.
Wow, I know this is tough, but glad she is improving. Praying

Prayers heading your way. Hope your mom is out of the woods and rehab is in the near future. That was the point I realized my Dad a chance to get back to normal.
Take care of yourself too, sometimes you feel like you can power through this and rest later. That isn't always the case.
Thanks all, My Mom was transferred to rehab Saturday and I drove down on Sunday. I've been working from her shared room in the rehab facility and for the first few days she was out of it and very agitated, but this has cleared up and she's more herself and appears to be doing great in rehab. We still have the vertigo to worry about, the whole reason she broke her leg in the first place, but things are improving.
My Wife has spring break next week and will join me, so far it's just been me and my sister and some babysitters we hired the first few days to stay with her at night and make sure she didn't hurt herself.
In other good news my youngest just passed her driver's test. Yay!
I didn't unpack my herfador and travel tupperdor from the Muletown trip so I have plenty of cigars to smoke too.

Hey everyone, I just found out today that one of my coworkers, Alice, that was in the next office from me, was killed in a car wreck last night. Her daughter in law was scheduled for a c section tomorrow. Please keep Alice and her family in your prayers.
Please say a prayer for our little dog Wally. He hasn't been himself for the past few days, got him to the Vet this afternoon and his blood sugar levels are off the chart. They are keeping him for a few days to try to get his levels stabilized. He's the last dog we have as we lost our big guy just in December. Keep him in your thoughts. The house isn't the same coming home to it empty.
