This is what is deserved but then again it is the Blackhawks and one of their stars so it also wouldn't surprise me if he just misses the rest of the season. The NHL is notorious for decreasing punishments when it comes to the playoffs.jgibv said:

Duncan Keith gets six games (one playoff game) for intentionally hitting a guy in the face with his stick? That is some bullsh1t right there. The League loves the Blackhawks. That is a ten gamer if it happens a month ago, or if it's a player from another team.0

Couldn't agree more. Especially with Keith doing this same thing in the past. They need to get away from treating the post season differently when it comes to suspensions. What's going to stop a player from taking out a big name player on an opposing team in the playoffs?1 -
So duncs lost his head,but remember that this is only his third time being suspended in his career. The 5 Regular game would have sufficed,but the league added 1 playoff game to make a statement. The hit that put keith down was also very dirty.Non Crux sed lux1

It is quite possible that the league reviewed the footage 10 seconds prior as a determining factor. Coyle damn near smashed his face in with the end of his stick and then took him down by the legs. Two wrongs don't make a right and Keith deserves suspension, but I wonder if the sentence handed down may be "lighter" due to the circumstances just prior. Hard to say but I would think the league would review the situation in entirety.
In in any case I just want him back asap. Hawks be struggling right now.

I just feel with how intentional that was it deserved more than what was given. That kind of play shouldn't be in the game at all. What happens if he had connected with his eye and Coyle was blind in one for the rest of his life? I see to many times the league handing out penalties based on outcomes and not the penalty itself.3

Totally agree Bert. That kinda thing should never happen. As a fan of the team and of the player himself, it's a tough place to be. Very thankful that the injury sustained is minor. Could have been much much worse.
On a lighter note, the big dance is about to begin. And for you and your wife, those sleepless nights.
