Some apple growers just donated 60,000 pounds of harvested apples to the relief effort. All the retailers are not buying as the stores are still not operating because of Helene.
They dropped the apples at the fairgrounds and put out the word on Facebook. I got boxes and baskets and filled them with Winesaps. Looks like we will be eating apples for supper.
Just picked up a donation of 50 lbs of russet potatoes, 2 cases of water and a 40 lb bag of dog food. There is a lot of giveaway food here. Must be four or five staging areas. A lot of food retailers were flooded by a foot or two of water and mud. Anything up on the shelves stayed dry. The retailers are claiming a total loss and are donating all the dry stuff. We are giving a lot of stuff to friends who were hit harder than us. Some of our friends are Hispanic and are kind of shy about getting in line to get the stuff. We help them when we can.

I appreciate the offer of help fellows. Keep the folks affected by this disaster in your prayers.
