I'm learning so much from this thread. I always thought Glocks were semi-automatic, actually, I thought AR-15's were too, unless altered. And 800 round magazines! Even the 30 caliber (7.62mm) machine gun on our tank only had room for about 1000, and you'd have to change barrels to feed all those rounds through them. Wow! Modern technology! It must be the microprocessors, that's the ticket!

Yeah, you're right, can't fire lots of rounds with an AR in a few minutes...
On the evening of October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire upon the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada. Between 10:05 and 10:15 p.m. PDT, he fired more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from his 32nd floor suites in the Mandalay Bay Hotel, which killed 60 people[a] and wounded 411, with the ensuing panic bringing the injury total to 867. About an hour later, Paddock was found dead in his room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His motive remains officially undetermined.

Perhaps it's time to take mental health and cultural norms seriously in this country?
Why is it that in two of the High Schools that I attended one could stroll through the Student parking lot and count the shotguns and rifles in the back windows of the pick-up trucks with open windows, and nobody ever got shot?
We've had probably thousands of gun laws enacted since that time. Why is it worse, now? Answer that, then start to work on solving those very real societal ills, maybe that's the place to start? Because repeating the same ineffective "cures" isn't working.

Everyone take a deep breath, Frank didn't say he wanted to ban them, he just said they could be fired really quickly with some modifications (which is true). Before you all jump on him, maybe hear him out?
True. Frank didn't say anything of the sort. With the commies in the white house and running both branches of congress, us gun guys just get a little touchy on the subject. Gun ownership is under attack right now. Sorry, Frank. Didn't mean to jump down your throat so quickly, but I did.

It's worth pointing out that commies do not support gun control, and that Ronald Reagan is the one who got California started on the path it's on with gun control. I fully agree with your sentiment though, this is just a minor fact check. Facts are important when arguing with people who don't use logic, like democrats.

The only people in this country pushing gun control are those on the left. The commie party.
Once again, communists don’t support gun control, since as conservatives know, the point of having guns is to overthrow the government if needed. All I’m really saying is that using false hyperbole isn’t the way to convince someone of something, which is what the goal should be.
You can't control an armed population. Every communist (and socialist) government has disarmed their people. Followed by oppression and often genocide. Disarm, remove freedoms, jail or kill dissidents.

1000 rounds in about 10 minutes. Certainly possible. Sounds like a lot, but really isn’t. The guy would need 34 30-round mags and be changing them every 20 seconds or so. 1.6 rounds a second or thereabouts, so figure 2 shots each second. Barrel’s gonna get toasty but it’s not gonna be glowing. Anyone with a modicum of skill can do that. Given a large enough magazine, that can be done with a plain Jane bolt action. Accuracy obviously wasn’t the goal in this case.
I’ve shot with guys who routinely hit 5 steel plates with 5 shots in less than 5 seconds, including the time it takes to draw from the holster. I’m no where near that fast, but I’ll average around 10 seconds for the same course of fire using my everyday carry 1911. Assault weapon? Not remotely. Practice.

But is the chamber big enough for 10 rounds.
Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.
Happiness is a drum fed cannon.
And how red will the barrel be after 800 rounds in one minute?
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.

This was on facebook and wasn't fact-checked as being false, or a part of it was false. It was covered up as being sensitive material.
Is this close enough?
Man, that's just a lil' ol' squirt gun. 😂😂😂

I guy in a rented van plowed into a crowd of people in london. Vans are dangerous? Ban truck rentals?

20 million "assault" type weapons in the U.S. are all these people dangerous or violent? Should they be punished for the actions of a few?

Random aside, but I bet that's the first time in this forum's history that someone's posted communist propaganda.
