Finally got about an inch of rain this week. Level 3 extreme drought here and in western part of the state. Lawn watering restrictions still in effect. Driving down the street some lawns are pretty brown and others are over-fertilized and watered. Having a beautiful lush lawn used to be a source of civic pride but in an extreme drought in an area with a sole water source, not so much. Some town fire departments worry about the wells ability to keep water pressure in safe limits. The 'me' crowd are becoming more and more self-centered. End rant/ glad it rained finally here.

We seem to be slowly transitioning to fall. Daytime temp in the mid 80s, nights cooling to 50/60s

Ian is coming up to the NC Mountains. We will get maybe 4 inches of rain and 25mph winds. Hope those folks downwind come through ok.

Lived in upstate New York for a few years, sometimes I miss all that snow. The dead silence at 20 below, but I don’t miss that -40 windshield and all the work of actually going anywhere in the winter.

Went to high school in upstate… don’t miss much about it…I’ll take my -40.

We are getting a hard freeze tomorrow night. Low twenties. Got to split up fat pine for kindling.

76* and 33% humidity. Why the fates have befallen this cold on me so I can enjoy neither the weather nor a cigar on my birthday is proof of their cruel hatred.

32 & snow/rain mix. Gonna be seriously ugly driving home this afternoon.
