“It has been a source of great pain to me to have met with so many among [my] opponents who had not the liberality to distinguish between political and social opposition; who transferred at once to the person, the hatred they bore to his political opinions.” —Thomas Jefferson (1808)

Kids in our area are having a hard time getting jobs until they are 18. No one wants to hire anyone under 18.
When I was about 13-14, we'd all meet down the road, get on a bus and go to the valley, 120 miles away and pick strawberries. Other weekends, we'd unload crab, shrimp and cod boats for $20-$50 per boat. During the summer, we'd go and do hay. If we wanted money, we worked for it and appreciated what we bought with it.
Today, all of that work is child abuse? WTF? That's what is wrong with this country. Bunch of wimps everywhere.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
I got my first job busting tires at Discount Tires at 16 and made $10/hr and was psyched I was making such good money starting out even though it was hard work and dirty. Everything went to building my car save for a little I used to hang out with friends. It was a great start to teaching me to be responsible and earning what was mine. Shame this type of thing is dying, I agree Tony bunch of wimps now and it hasn’t even been that long since I first started.
