Update. Just traded (3x) $80 Jet Blue tickets for $6000 in travel vouchers. They are also putting us up in a hotel and paying for Uber to get us to Rhode Island for our flight tomorrow morning. All this for about $18 hours of our time.
The hour and a half walk keeps me in touch with the natural world. I'm lucky as all I have to do is grab my walking stick and strike out from my studio. There are six pretty long and steep up and down sections so I get a good work out. When you guys get into the geezer stage it is either use it or lose it.
Today's project was to mount the four cleats to my living room ceiling which will hold two acoustic panels up there. Bad news... my brain is not what it used to be. I put up to two outside cleats, measuring off each side wall and the wall behind the speakers. Then, with the panel's frame, I made a kind of jig to hold against the outside cleat that would let me drill holes for the inside cleat without having to measure on the ceiling; I just thought that would give me more repeatability for the other panel. I got as far as hanging one frame (without the sound-absorbing material). Here are a couple of pics that show that frame on the ceiling, and a closeup of the cleats.
The bad news is, when I got the width of the room and used that to locate the outside cleats, I measured at the floor, and this room has this beautiful plaster crown molding and that threw my measurement off. I want to have ~4" between the two panels and the one that's up there in the photo is already at the center of the room. So everything is wrong and has to be done over. But at least I know how far it's off and will get it right... eventually.
Just put my name in for a spot on the facilities board at the rink today.
Got home rhys says he doesn't want to play hockey anymore. I said you do you...but you'll finish your hockey camp I paid for and then next year you decide. I ask jessa about hockey she says she doesn't know yet... So I'll let nova start next year otherwise I might just be on the board with no kids at the rink lol. I can't win.
Got an alert from Credit Wise this morning that my SS# has been found on the dark web. Wondering what steps I can take to mitigate any damage that can come to my credit , etc.

Seems like I saw where AT&T had a fairly serious security breach recently where they lost a lot of consumer info. If you are a customer of theirs they might be the dirt bag.
My other wants a greenhouse for her birthday. We have a 20' south facing wall on our garden shed. So I got out the graft paper and designed a shed style. It will be 16 long by 8 wide by 8' high. Gravel floor, With a 6' knee wall to support the rafters. Interior will have rain barrel fed from the overhead gutter, and a 2' by 2' by 16' raised bed framed with with roofing tin aginst the knee wall. Polycarbonate panels for the roof and knee wall. I don't like working with PT but I will use it for the sills. Got to get to the Habitat Store and find a storm door and a vent. I'm supposed to be resting in my golden years.

I remember that recently someone said something along the lines of after a certain age if you don’t use it you lose it. No time for rest, it’s planting season.
Had to go to Banner Elk to the Stihl dealer. Had a weed whacker going south. Was going to take about half what a new one cost to fix the old one. So I looked at electric models . The dealer took my old one in trade for $40 and I got the midrange electric one. One the way home I went the back way through the mountains. The 12 mile road is paved with countless switch backs and few houses. All the cherry trees are blooming.
Saw some nice country and got a cool tool.
One week down, one to go. Met a daunting deadline today, hopefully the next week is somewhat more relaxed turning over my projects to another.
Tonight, my brain hurts.

this spoke loudly to me this morning, not merry so wouldn't fit in the merry memes thread so I park it here:
On a walk this AM. I walk along a creek with a series of falls and pools. The walk carries me over a couple of branches feeding the creek downstream.
That's awesome, Rodger. The closest I get to nature these days is raking leaves that blow into the building at work.

I just accepted an offer of employment at a new company, and will tender my resignation/two-weeks notice to my current employer tomorrow.
I'm jealous
Congrats!
I hope it is the right move. I think it is, and I think I will be happier.
Congrats, @TRayB .

Overhead work on a ladder sucks. Be careful Peter.

Find the dirtbag who stole it and punch that dirtbag in the nose.

Definitely call the friendly SS office, your bank, and credit card.
We can always hope somebody will use your SS# to get a job and contribute to society.

One of my litter robots is full and I received a notification. The little things make me laugh.
First attempt ever from starter to bread. Looks okay from the outside
