@Patrickbrick apparently there are six different breeds but the Silkie is the most common.

Do they taste the same? Is that where brown eggs come from?

From what I understand they taste very similar. But brown eggs come from a lot of different breeds of chickens. I have Cornish and Black Rock chickens and they both lay brown eggs. There are several that lay white eggs. Most people think it had to do with what they eat but it doesn’t.

my brother and I fought over who would get a double-yoke egg when I was a kid. Never see them now from store-bought eggs.

I have one old hen that will lay one double yolk egg every other day

Hmm, old hen relying on economy packaging? I wonder if they hatch viable chicks.

I haven’t hatched any chicks off of the black rocks yet but plan to soon. The Cornish grow so fast that they are a renewable resource.

The little black dots around the edges of car windshields are called "frits". They help the urethane sealant bond to the frame.
