So far so good. The power company has a scheduled power shut off starting tonight when the winds pick up. Got my generator all ready to go.

Yes, and rightly so. I worry for Texas. Lot of Cali refugees ending up there the past decade.

Is it illegal for Malibu CA beachfront property owners to pump ocean water into firehoses to fight fires? Maybe I'm just asking the dumbest question ever but I'm not the ones facing 100 mph wind gusts and dry underbrush conditions with my back to an ocean full of water.

From what I understand, the catastrophic fires are blamed on high wind events. Same thing as when Paradise and Santa Rosa burned. That responsibility was placed on the energy companies and the cost of retrofitting was passed on to the consumers. Ask me how I know. Bet the same will be repeated down in SoCal. I don't think that the governing bodies, of anywhere, will ever pay for anything other than self-interests, "backed" by their constituents, with taxpayer money. While I agree for the most part about asinine policies, there are a few good ones sprinkled in there and I would rather not see our coffers drained. We all put a lot of money into that shlt; there are a few programs that actually help people that I don't mind paying into.

Lol, same thing happened with Katrina, too. Mom **** about the Californians and Katrina refugees all the time. Other side of the coin, I sure have seen a lot of Texas plates around here the last few years.

Choir here. One would think we would have desalination plants, also. Two for one prize there.

They are filling aircraft with it according to the news.

Just gotta be careful doing that. I remember reading something several years back...a guy in full scuba gear was found in a burned out area after the fire was out. Seems he was scooped up and dumped on a fire. Might be an urban legend but I sure wouldn't want to be dropped onto a forest fire.

These fires jolted my thinking in a few areas.
-Not everyone in CA is left of center.
-Fires don't give a rip about anything - they will f*ck you over no matter who you are.
-Somebody's political affiliation, whether I agree with them or not, does not affect their value as human being, nor does it change how I am to show empathy for them.

    👏👏👏 Absolutely!

I hope the powers that be can determine the starting points of these fires and just how they got started.
