Lost but not found contest

edited March 2018 in General Discussion
I have been busy moving out and into a new place for the last couple weeks, moving out mostly in a day and moving in the rest. I had a manila folder that I had thrown all the incoming tax info into, mostly unopened, if it said tax info, I threw it in there. Understand, I haven't got a tax return for 8 years due to accounting errors, so there is no hurry to do my taxes which are fairly simple, a few W-2s, mortgage interest, bank statements, maybe 10 envelopes. I had kept this folder in a table by the front door, incoming mail had tax stuff, into the folder. The weekend before the move we had a garage sale and this table had been talked about going so I gathered the tax folder and put it someplace really safe where it would show up soon as we moved in as taxes are due in a couple weeks.

The contest,
If anybody can jog my memory as to the safe place I may have put this folder I would be very grateful as most of the boxes are unpacked and still no folder. If not, I will payout to the most innovative guess.

Side note, I will get a tax return this year as the IRS is paid in full and will dedicated 10% to the winner.

You know the rules, good traders list, as many friggin guesses per day as you want, would include @CalvinAndHobo and @Trish, not sure if they traded yet but am getting desperate.

Sorry to hear that the gremlins hid something important.
My guess is you put the envelope in the mini fridge with your cigars.

I'll take a shot at it. So it's a manila folder, that means you put it in a place where it's not going to move around or shift during the move. You also said it'll be there first thing after the move. I would guess that it's in your car, so that it wouldn't be involved in the move itself. Maybe in a glove compartment or suitcase. If it were me, I wouldn't put it in a box if I needed it right when I arrived. I'd check your car and whatever else you brought that didn't involve your movers. Maybe in that back pocket that some seats have where you keep things like maps.

Good call @CalvinAndHobo, have tore that car apart. Sad part is I was the movers, local move so I have nobody to blame. Spent one night at my folks and thought maybe I had taken it out of my carry on bag that I took there but no luck.

Randy you folded it in half and put it in your back pocket, check all your pants.  You're welcome.

The only other thing I can think of is that you moved it from a manila envelope into another package, and you've already seen it a few times but you haven't remembered that it's not in a manila envelope anymore.

Have you asked your wife where she put it?
Maybe she thought it was REALLY important and put it in the box with her booze!

If I was closer I'd come and help you look for it.
If it's not with the really important stuff like the cigars, booze, and guns then it must be with the toilet paper and other bathroom necessities.

It will be in the last place you look for it.  ;)
It is in a box marked foyer closet, or the recycle bin with a bunch of other junk mail.

My wife gives me crap when I ask that and tells me it's where I put it.
Only to find out later that it's where SHE moved it.

You probably put it in with your bills and such. Check that box.
