Illusione Rothschilde while taking an evening stroll in the fog. I was surprised with the dark wrapper. The last box I had several years ago turns out was a Connecticut wrapper, this one is maduro, I like this one but think I prefer the Connecticut.

Gave my neighbor nearly half a box of these and he returned all but one saying they are too strong and too large. So I need to get to burning. Not too fond of the San Andrés wrapper but I haven't smoked one in ages so I figured what the heck! Luchador El Castigo behemoth.
*Wow, he's right. These are from 11/8/16 and still punchy as heck. Some of the pepper has smoothed out but still full bodied IMO. The typical dry dirt flavor of San Andrés has also been muted, it's a very far background thing with a nutty flavor over riding it, along with leather. It's quite pleasant actually. I suspect the huge amount of filler is also contributing to reducing the dry dirt flavor. This puppy tastes pretty darn tasty so far.
** It settled down after the first third and is a solid Medium with nuts, leather, rich tobacco, and sweet wooden notes. Very tasty. Perfect burn, easy draw, and solid ash. Quite surprised how good these turned out with some age.
