I've noticed in the past that there seem to be competing declarations of what "day" it is. So, if National Cheeseburger Day falls on Celebrate Vegan Day, is it OK if I slice up a vegan on a cheeseburger?

I was thinking along these lines yesterday. Driving at the speed limit via cruise control, I frequently find someone riding my back bumper. Now, in a highway type situation with lot's of traffic, I go the same speed as everyone else. But, out here on the deer-laden back roads I do not focus on my destination to the exclusion of all else, as most do when they drive, I focus on the moment I am living in. Probably learned this as a motorcyclist.
How many of us, how many times in our lives are we not as conscious of the current moment, because we can't stop thinking about the next moment? Or, some other future or past event. For me, I notice the young eagle disputing a carcass with a vulture by the side of the road. The flash of a bobcat disappearing into the woods. The herd of does about to fling their bodies in the path of my oncoming vehicle. The plum trees are blooming.
Of course, it helps if you're retired and have all day. Every day is my day. The day the Lord made for me to live in, and I'm grateful.
Didn't see where this was going myself. Wasn't looking to the next moment, I suppose.

Now you guys have me smelling waffles. I'm starting to want some. Maybe chicken and waffles for dinner since I already had breakfast. Hmm.
That lead to reading about a woman in the Atlantic who started smelling like waffles: The Mystery of the Maple Syrup Smell. An interesting read with a surprise ending.

Make Up Your Own Holiday Day. It is a day to think up of a thing, person, animal, phrase, or food and create a holiday to celebrate it.
Sometimes I get off work for this holiday. The past four times I have not. That’s why I’m always conking out on the vherf. 50-60 hr weeks. But that’s good cigar money 👍
I'm lucky if I make it a full 40 at actual work because I'm Mr mom at home so I sware I'm home atleast 1 day on average a week dealing with something or picking someone up for getting sent home for making a teacher cry..that just happened you name it...I sware these kids are wild beasts
