Well, I did ask her Why?! She had a fairly legitimate reason for the mistake. Bulliet bottles both labels (Orange=Straight & Green=Rye) in two sizes, 750ml and 1.75l. I said I want the large bottle with the orange label, but when she was standing in front of the shelf, the only orange labeled bottles were small, and only the green labeled bottles were large. She bought the green because it was large, and I specifically stated large, because of the economy of scale.
So, it was actually my fault. But I'm a man, I can change, if I have to, I guess.
My buddy Nathan was on vacation in Wisconsin where this stuff is made and brought some over today. Pinot-finished bourbon and a brandy. So far so good.

Up to this point I have not been a dedicated seeker of Blanton's, but I saw this high on a shelf behind the counter at my small neighborhood (nearest mini strip mall) liquor store. They seem to be a bit higher on all their stuff than some of the bigger stores I have in the area, but they are closest geographically. My plan is to buy more. I think I spotted a second bottle up on the shelf there at the same store. $95.oo. Is there a particular time of year that Blanton's is more likely to be spotted? I don't recall ever seeing it in any store. If I ever did see it, I'm sure I balked at whatever price they gave me. It's not my first taste though. Last winter my son gave me an opened 375ml/pint bottle secondhand because he was not impressed with it. I thanked him and disagreed with his opinion. I have nursed that small bottle along for a while now wondering if I would ever spot any Blanton's but also not really trying hard to find it either.
I called around this morning, and one place said they had it for $112 or $120, he wasn't certain about the price. And another place said he thought he usually priced his in the $70 to $75 range and he might get some today or tomorrow and told me I should call back. Three other places did not have it. I think I'll drop by my local again and get that other bottle if no one's grabbed it and also keep calling that other guy. I don't guzzle my bourbon, and I have other hobbies that I willingly spend plenty of money on, so I might as well try to keep some Blanton's on hand if it pleases me.

Out of curiosity, what does blanton cost. Never seen it in a liquor store.
This one was $95. I edited my post with some details about 50 minutes after I posted the pic. I'm going to be more determined about searching it out in the future. If I can find some below $80, I'll come back and crow about my good fortune.

I don't care to spend more than $70 for a bottle of whiskey but I'll grab one of these if I ever run across one.
It's possible you drink your whiskey faster and go through more of it, than @Bob_Luken. Sorry for assuming... that's just how I process some decisions - it depends on how quickly something's consumed vs. how long I'll enjoy it.
p.s. I'd rank Blanton's in my top 3, it's good stuff.
Quite possible. About 1/2 - 3/4 bottle on a good Saturday night. My wife's father was a major alcoholic, and abusive, so she didn't like me to get a good buzz on. Those days are past and my future is now living for today.

I know of stores that pay that for it. The msrp on liquor is complete bullshit. If every store did a 25% markup the prices would be all over the place. Different places pay different prices.
I found another local place pricing Blanton's at $75. Supposedly, they get a few bottles in every third Saturday of each month. And they require you to buy an additional minimum $20 Buffalo Trace product purchase. I suppose that's better than paying $95 for just the Blanton's elsewhere but I feel manipulated. On the other hand, I like trying new things. I did that one time so far, and I was disappointed with the Liqueur I selected. Bufalo Trace Bourbon Cream. It had a strange aftertaste. I'll keep experimenting with it.

I'm liking it too. Two drinks went down way too easy, though. It may end up being my go-to scotch.

Better start with Blanton's and after a few pours, switch to something more economical. I mean, we do that with cigars right?
