My first flavored (aromatic?) tobacco. I was expecting heavy vanilla cream flavors. What I experienced was a very subtle hint of vanilla cream flavor. All in all not too shabby. Not what I expected. I will try it again before I 👍🏼 or 👎🏼 as I’m 50/50.

Anyone have suggestions on best preparation methods for smoking? My initial idea didn’t work well. Nor did my second!

Do you mean preparation for that particular tobacco? Which burnt ends is it?

Yessir. Like backstrap or a thick piece of beef jerky.

You might want to try it in a pipe with a bigger bowl. Where that stuff is so caramelized it really needs room for air to get around it.

For burnt ends, I'd either cube cut it into small cubes, finely shave it with a sharp knife, or rub it out. No matter how you prep it, I'd let it dry a bit before smoking.Chris I did cut and peeled it. Probably needed finer cutting as it is so dense. Rusty, I think I could’ve given it more space. I will incorporate both suggestions into my next try. Thanks fellas.

Beautiful pipe, Steve and a great tobacco to smoke in it.
I'm smoking leftovers, chunkier Salty Dogs I believe with a parfait of what I think is Peterson Perfect Plug on top in my Davorin Rhodesian Morta while I soak an oxidized stem from a large gourd calabash pipe I'm restoring in OxyClean. I applied Vasoline to the cork liner that holds the bowl in place in the gourd to soften it and extend it's life.

Nice little surprise this morning from Rusty @Rdp77 Admittedly, in my limited tobacco knowledge, I judged a book by its cover this morning. I looked at the label and thought to myself, hmmm haven’t heard or tried this KBV blend yet. When I did a “KBV” search it didn’t hit. So I scrolled down a few and, BAM, that’s when I realized this ain’t no KBV.

It was foggy and cold yesterday but today the sun is out and not a cloud in the sky. I'm breaking in my Pioneer Calabash pipe that I just finished restoring with some Burley Morning Pipe and a third cup of home-roasted medium roast El Salvador Las Lomas coffee. I'm enjoying a smooth and mellow moment before getting on with the day. I roughly followed this restoration guide: https://rebornpipes.com/2024/01/02/restoring-a-gourd-calabash-with-a-meerschaum-bowl-from-an-estate/, the stem was quite oxidized.
