Obviously, I will sarcastically, half seriously retort.

Isn’t birth control an outdated medium? I don’t know the answer.

I ask, because isn’t Plan B the new, improved, easier, no fuss method of birth control? It’s on every shelf of just about any type of food and liquor market (at least in my state).

@silvermouse apologies for inserting my hypothetical analysis that skews off the intention of the article. Just taking from the playbooks of V2 (v squared) brothers @Vision and @VegasFrank

I think not getting preggers or an STD in the first place is less a bother and expense.

Edit: oh., and no problem adding to the discussion, that's why people talk to each other.

RFK Jr cut a half billion $ in mRNA development, will be tied up in courts for years. At least it will be adjudicated in the light of day instead of some backroom shenanigans. Pfizer wanted to hide that **** for 75 years...why?

That was supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek joke. The lady that got the axe was reporting on job (IIRC) and this was on crime numbers being down.

if the majority voted for less government this should be a bit disconcerting. Yes, it is from the NYT but there is some validity in the observation:

"When he was running for president last year, Donald Trump and his allies promised to increase the power of the presidency over the rest of the federal government. He has moved aggressively to keep that promise, clashing with courts and steamrolling Congress as he works to stamp out pockets of independence.

But it’s not just that Trump wants more power over the federal government. He is also trying to give the federal government more power over society itself."

Going after domestic violence would make America look bad?

Documents obtained by WIRED show FEMA plans to direct states and tribes to halt activities intended to combat domestic violent extremism so as to align with "current administration priorities."

I don't know, but that sounds an awful lot like the old trope that violence towards women skyrocketed during Super Bowl games. That lie was widely spread and believed for quite some time, until someone did actual research and found that it was complete BS.

But, the world's a strange place. Who knows? Not me. I guess we'll find out someday.

I should have said domestic extremist violence. I interpreted it to mean American citizens who blow up stuff or kill people because they think it is acceptable given their grudges or political views.

Here's what the President is going after in museums. The censorship that is being allowed is disturbing to me.

Didnt read the whole article. It's a good thing Trump is fixing this woke, leftist nonsense if it supported by taxpayer money. The weirdos and invaders can pay for their own radical agenda.

Say what you want to say, feel what you want to feel, have intercourse with whatever adult or adults are willing, believe as you like. I have no problem with any of these fringe element thinkers, although I may often disagree with their beliefs or choices, but that's MY right, too.

However, (you knew that was coming, didn't you?)

don't ask me to pay for your insane and / or bigoted message. I'm with Shawn, pay for your own agenda if you fall into one of those categories.

Focus on mental health with deliberate objective truths and you’ll get a safer country, state and local community.

Follow up- Yes, I am thinking about the mass shooting. Didn’t Reagan f*** this up for us? Do the hard thing and start locking up the nuts again.

Yes. Recognize the fact that anyone who thinks they are, or should be another gender/sex have a mental illness that must be addressed.

some people are born inter sexed and assigned to one gender or the other at birth, sometimes incorrectly.

  • ShawnOL
    ShawnOL Posts: 13,460 ✭✭✭✭✭

And they are often unhappy with their "assigned" sex, sometimes to the point of being very angry or delusional about it. These people need psychiatric help to learn to deal with it and go on with their lives as the sex they were born as.

True, and in those very rare instances we need to respect the decision of the individual, and the individual needs to accept the limitations of societal norms. Basically it boils down to this, XX = female, XY = male, and then there's the rare anomalies such as XXY = Klinefelter's syndrome, single X = Turner's syndrome, and another anomaly wherein Xy has female attributes, but enhanced testosterone production that somehow didn't promote full-on male genitalia etc.

It's not fair for Xy to compete against XX in tests of strength and endurance, things like that.

Then there are those who for other reasons wish to pretend that they are one or the other. I'm fine with that, but the hysteria over being "misgendered" when someone addresses you as Sir, with your stubbly beard and heavily muscled self is wearing a dress, is ridiculous. My last 25 years in the work force I was a nurse, over 6 ft, beard and mustache, and I was "misgendered" on a weekly basis because of my chosen profession. Who cares?

What bathroom do you want to use? As long as you behave yourself, who cares?

However, changing all cultural norms to accommodate the XY all male rapist who now wishes to identify as female in order to gain access to the female prison, or locker room, or whatever is not a cause to be championed. These are the kinds of issues that are problematic.

Lastly, those who wish to destroy all cultural norms are using these issues to divide and destroy our culture, here, now, today. The current trope is that "There are an infinite number of genders", based on expression or desire of the individual at any given moment.

I, for one, cannot accept that as a biological scientific fact. Is it a sociological fact? Maybe. However, what it seems to have boiled down to is the idea that because there are an infinite number of haircuts therefore there an infinite number of genders.

    Baloney.

If someone shaves one side of their head, dyes the rest of their hair pink and makes love to their toaster that does not make them a new gender. That makes them crazy. I'm OK with their fetish, as long as they do it in the privacy of their own home, but I don't think we need to build a new set of bathrooms in every public facility for them. Use whichever bathroom suits you, behave yourself in there.

Speaking only for myself, there are cultural "norms" that evolve or need to evolve. That is why cruelty to animals is now prosecuted, wasn't always that way. Send your 10 year old to work 12 hours in the coal mine? Kill savage injuns? I'm grateful culture norms aren't written in stone.

Absolutely. SOME need or needed to change. Not every one of them, though. As I said, I spent a couple decades as a professional nurse. There were times when that would have been much harder, or impossible. At the very least I would have been paid less for the same work, in fact, that is what happened when I was first hired by an XX female who preferred XX females. Didn't stop me. Examples abound. That doesn't mean each and every norm is wrong, misguided, or inappropriate, and that IS the view being espoused by many today, That's all I'm saying.

    Maybe I'm too much of a conservative, and I like to keep things the same... and so, I like to ask questions like;

    'What's driving this evolving norm?'

Will this evolution stop at this stage, or will it keep evolving, and if so, what's next on the horizon?

I see human nature differently than some here, and of course, that frames our opinions. Some see mankind as progressing toward all that we can be - I see mankind as in a ruined state of what we were meant to be, and thus, I don't see (or trust) people/populations/cultures/societies to grow into better versions of themselves when it comes to issues like sexuality because whether or not we want to admit it or realize it, most people think 'below the belt' and are easily duped into thinking that what they want is okay.

I wonder who will benefit of this comes to pass, lol

Postwar plan for Gaza circulating within the Trump administration envisions 'voluntary' relocation of entire population
It's not clear that the 38-page prospectus — which calls for turning Gaza into a trusteeship administered by the United States for at least 10 years while it is transformed into a tourism resort and manufacturing hub — is what President Donald Trump, who has vowed to "take over" the enclave, has in mind. But major elements of it, according to two people familiar with the planning, were designed to make real the president’s vision of a “Riviera of the Middle East.”
