Hope springs eternal, this time of year everyone is a champ. I'd have to say the Red Sox have improved their lot this year

Then let’s do wins for a 5er, regular season

I'd have to go back and look but I think the Mariners/Red Sox were pretty close in wins last year

Just to clarify. A form five for whoever ends up with the most regular season wins at the end of the year. And maybe once the season gets rolling, we throw a fiver down on a weekend series as well. @dirtdude

I was watching the Brewers game today. They're in Miami playing the Marlins. In the next booth over from the MKE announcers was a guy named Rod Allen. I'd never heard the story about Rod Allen getting hit by a pitch and charging the mound. They played the video, and it cracked. me. up.

Seems to be a fairly quiet thread this year. Let's see, Peter's Brew Crew, last place. Todd's Phil's, last place. Pete's Bosox, last place but huge win today. My Mariners, recently last place in a last place division. Sherms Yanks, first place but he knows they will fold at the slightest pressure. Did I miss any

Edit: gotta give a hat tip to Monty's Vedder Cup winner Padres, playing some good ball

My Yankees are probably the worst first place team right now. Pitching looks good but hitting is suspect. Hopefully they are breaking out of their hitting slump

Phillies fired manager Rob Thompson, named Don Mattingly as interim manager. Let's go Donnie Baseball!

From what I’m told, every former manager wants that position

From what I read today, Mattingly’s son is the GM…and he offered the job to the Red Sox guy before they fired their manager.

Yep, the job was offered to Alex Cora prior to the announcement of Thomson's firing. Cora said no, along with the deflectory "I want to spend more time with my family", which everyone says when they really just don't want the job.
