Welcome Dan. There are a lot of know it alls around here. Some of them really do know it all! YO know who you are :-) These are great guys. You will learn a lot!

I have only had on Obsidian and I had draw problems. I can't remember if I had burn problems but it was definately tight. I did order some Padillas I haven't had before. Got myself 2 Padilla Signature 1932 torpedos and 2 Padilla Signature 1948. Also got myself some Partagas Maduro Naturales. I want to see how these compare to the Partagas Black. And then I got 3 Gurkha Grand Reserve Torpedos. One is for me, one is for a Colonel I work with and one is for a assistant director I work with. Hope they will like them. No smoking for me today. Drove the car.
The Padilla 1932 torpedo is one of my favorite cigars..the 1948 is right up there too. If you dig full bodied smokes, then these should be right up your alley.

Had a 5 Vegas Miami knuckle this afternoon. Not bad, but I think I like the robusto and toro more. Tonight was a Gurkha Master Select torpedo. First one and it was excellent -very tasty.

I had a Padilla Achilles Torpedo. Not a bad stick. Very good quality. Nice white smoke, great draw, even burn, and very little after taste. My bocce team was 0-3 tonight so I doubt I will bring another one of those again. Would buy again if they went on special. It was one of those cigars that I would not write home about, but have zero complaints.

Had a RP Signature Lancero at lunch today. Good smoke overall, but I prefer the Toro.

On a whim, I had a 5 Vegas Classic torpedo that has been sitting behind as a part of a sampler pack I received a few months ago. I recently got the 90 rated sampler here at ccom, so I got another one of them - and decided it was time to smoke one. I lit up while doing yard work - and let me tell you, I was shocked at how refreshing it was! Kinda like I don't drink light beer, but on a hot summer day, it sure is hard to beat a Shiner Light. Well, 5 Vegas Classic has a special place for me now - the perfect smoke for when you aren't relaxing. Ha!

Just had a La Aurora Barrel Aged Robusto. I normally love these, and while the flavor was good on this one, the draw was much tighter than I am used to. It kept almost going out on me, and I had to pull so hard on it it kinda ruined the flavor. First one I have had like this, I'll chalk it up to a bad stick.

The one I had had a pretty tight draw too, but my humidity goes up and down like a roller coaster.

Just finished up a Conuco i got in a sampler. For all the negative stuff surrounding this RP blend, its not too bad. Nothing to do backflips over but not bad. Tasted kind of like a cross between a REO and a Honduran Classic.

Had a 5 Vegas Cask Strength 2 this morning. Awesome, awesome stick. I think is my favorite 5 Vegas so far. I then had an El Mejor Emerald at lunch, always a good go-to. I am eyeing a RP Edge for after dinner, I have been itching to try it.
I too thought the cask strength was a great cigar. Have you had the Relic? Which one had more of a kick, that is if you had the relic. I thought the cask was a bit heavier.
Just smoked a Relic, and it hit me with a little more oompf than I remember the Cask Strength having. I need to smoke the two of them closer together in time to really tell. By the way, the Relic is a damn good smoke, but I think a little age will make it even better. I'm not sure if I prefer it to the CS, but its close. Again, I need to smoke these two closer together.

Just got back from the B&M and smoked an ITC 10th Anniversary. What a finger burnin good smoke! Started off with a pepery kick and mellowed out into a really nice smooth woody flavor. Rocky did a really good job with this one!

That's one fine smoke. One of my favorites. They come in 2nds. also that are the same as the 1st to me. Tonight I'm smoking a Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet. Also one great smoke.

Nothing Monday but today was a DE Java Maduro robusto....very relaxing and just the right mix of tobacco and 'Java" flavor. Stopped by a small B&M close to work and they are re stocking finally. Owner says big order of Rocky Patels be there in about 3 weeks including Nordings which I'm excited to try...

All the chatter about Sol Cubanos had me pull out a Cuban Cabinet robusto today. Glad I did, hadn't had one for some time and it was great. Finished off the night w a Fuente Curlyhead corona. Kind of blah.

I have had 2 firsts, and I really can't tell a difference. Out of the bundle of 15 seconds I got, I saw a kinda heavy vein on 3 or 4 of em. The rest were perfect, and even the ones with the veins smoked absolutely fine. I really wish they had seconds of the Decade or OWR's.

They do...though I don't think ccom sells them. They're called the RP Nicaraguan Factory Selects. It comes in five flavors, Sun Grown, Edge, OWR, Decade and ITC Super Fuerte all called by a code letter.

Well, of course the Fuente was blah. You had the Sol Cubano first. A curly head can't compete strengthwise with Cuban Cabinet. It's like a women getting, well you know...

OK....so tonight is my 26th and I believe I have been celebrating it in good taste. Today started with an Oliva Connecticut reserve robusto....I started smoking this at like 8am. Was on the road for work and wanted to start the day with a mild smoke. This wasn't exactly mild, had a bit of spice and was closer to medium bodied. Great flavor for a conn wrapped cigar.

After accomplishing a few things for work, I stopped by a shop up in Newark, OH and was torn between getting a Padron 64 Imperial or a Ashton ESG robusto. Knowing that I planned on smoking an Opus later this evening, I decided to go with the ESG...kinda wanted to compare two different cigars with different wrappers from the Chateau de la Fuentes. The ESG was excellent. It had what I consider to be a classic mineral texture that most Ashton's seem to have. It began getting richer and richer as it burned.

Finally, I'm finishing the evening with an Opus X **** (one of the first opus x I have ever purchased) that's been in the humi since June. I can say that for my second opus, it is just as good, if not better, than the first. Rich flavors of earth and spice...a little fruitiness to it, but very faint so far. Excellent construction and burn, just impeccable in that department. It is capping off the evening nicely and I will be ready for a good night's rest afterwards. l

Happy Birthday Brandon...sounds like a great night...the ESG was my top choice for a long time and is still in top 4--5 choices ....

Happy birthday Brandon, sounds like you had a few great sticks today, nice selection.

Just finished a ESV Aristocrata courtesy of thebody52. Great cigar, just like the Regente I had a while back. Can't say I prefer either size really, they are both excellent, I guess it would come down to how long I felt like smoking.

    Happy Birthday Brandon!!

Today was an outstanding smoking day. Started off with a Conuco, the an ITC 10th, went to a CAO event and had an MX2(awesome Maduro!!!) and ended with an AF Anejo. My second Anejo and jeezus these things are good! Sweet, balanced and a rich smoke that covers you palate.
