This evening's smoke was one I've been waiting some time to smoke.
The coveted Partagas 150. It was a great smoke, but now that I've smoked it I find myself with a feeling like "Is that all?"

Don't get me wrong, as a cameroon fiend, I was in heaven. But comparing it to other great cameroons, I guess I was expecting more. If that makes any sense.

Glad you got to smoke such a good cigar but I'm sorry to hear that it was a tad disappointing though :( Did you ever get a chance to smoke that Partagas 160 that I sent your way, how'd. You like it vs the 150?

Hope you are doing well and missed talking with ya!

I haven't smoked the 160 yet. I was able to get my hands on a couple 150s, so I decided to smoke one.
It was probably more that I wasn't in the correct frame of mind to smoke it and I had some pre-conceived notions of what to expect, so I think I may have been expecting more from it.

I've been busy as all get out (wow, I just realized I said that.) and with the rainy season hitting, I'm spending more time at home.

I'd have called you, but I tend to feel like I'm taking up folk's time when I call them. You are more than welcome to call me any time you like. I don't sleep, so there is no bad time to call. LOL!

Walt, it looks like you could use a Stogie Stand. Pm me your address and I'll hook you up. Daniel has given me way too many and I could spare a couple.

Picked this Foundry Auburn up at a B&M today, and was intrigued by the marketing (tesla/edison and their elements line).

But it was like trying to smoke a rock. I tried cutting more of the head, tried cutting back on the foot, but it was beyond firm and blocked. had to chuck it less than an inch truly smoked
    image
So i decided to give the Hooligan another try after 9 months in the humi, but while it tasted better it was still far too much work to keep going so unfortunately it got chucked at about an inch and a half.

However, the guys at ccom came to the rescue with a really tasty little smoke that hit the spot.

the only thing that cut this little gem short is the 25 degrees and 30 mph gusts that were rattling my little smoke tent too bad, had to put it down or risk losing it.

El Rey Del Mudo - Ronco

Temps were in the 60ºF range today and I wrapped up my work by 3:15 pm so it seemed a good opportunity to grab one of these 6x60 beauties and get to shmokin'

I like to whet my whistle/clear the palate with a bit of Marsalla (special mix) with a smoke on a weekday (I save the bourbon for weekends) so I grabbed the Ronco, a glass of my mix (3cups dry Marsalla with 3/4 cup sweet), my punch cutter and lighter and went to the porch for a smoke.

After a careful toasting I lit up this bad boy and enjoyed about 90 minutes of sweetness. This is a cigar I'll always have in the humi… nice draw, sweet flavor, even burn. It maintained a nice ash for the first half and after a tap into the tray all seemed firm so I continued… only to have the ash drop on my jacket … D'oh!… oh well, no harm, no foul. It signaled time to refresh my glass.

The taste remained pleasant and growing more complex as I neared the nub. The breeze died down allowing more inhalation of residual smoke. The ash remained firm for the rest of the stick and satisfied I dropped the remains to the tray as the light of the afternoon faded.

All in all a good end to a productive day!

In honor of Rick's Bday, I smoked one of the MK Ultras that he sent me last year. I'll deal with the actual Bday present later.... Untitled

Finally my first cigar in almost 2months. An Hoyo de Monterrey du Gourmet. One of my favorite lanceros. Good to see you getting back in action Brett. Great pic of the family on facebook!

Thanks Tom and glad to see you posting a bit more here as well! Glad you got a chance to finally smoke something and such a good one too! I've only had like 4 sticks in the past 4 months so I know what you mean ;)

Rhamlin, how do you like the oval shape? I really like the San Lotano Maduro & Habano Toros I tried but have wondered about the oval.

Last night I smoked a Romeo y Julieta 1875 Churchill. Disappointing all around. Bad draw, would not stay lit and questionable taste. Might be because years ago my first cigar was a real Cuban Romeo y Julieta and I expected too much.
