there was one for sale down the street. I had to talk myself out of it. it looked to be in great condition as far as the body goes. I didnt let myself even call the guy to test drive. oh well.

I'm a huge old VW fan (you couldn't pay me to own a new one). My dad and I resto-customed a 65 Beetle, and a 74 Super Beetle. I totaled the Super Beetle and we restored it again lol. I'll do another one one day. I love the Ghia as well they're just impossible to ever get straight and hard to get some parts for. I always wanted a Thing though.

I had to do much the same thing, recently. Somebody had one for sale on the side of the road. A late 60s model, I think.

Oh, she's over it, now. Mostly. But she'd have given her left eye for one when we were kids.

Just the normal kid curiosity, maddy. "Whoa, what's that? Why don't I have one of those?" That kind of thing.

Apologies if I said anything inappropriate or TMI. That kind of thing was just normal when I was growing up, so I don't think anything about it. Maybe I should.

Alright, this could take a while to get, so I'll try to make the clues as helpful as possible without giving it away. For hint #3: It's neither a Toyota nor a pickup, but you're not too far off on either part.

Now we're in the ballpark. I did have a Nissan Xterra, but it wasn't my first vehicle.

Yeah, land cruisers were always toyota...maybe you're thinking land rover? (which is a completely different company)

I was gonna hold this hint for a while, but since it came up... Hint #4: A majority share of the manufacturer was acquired by Toyota in the last decade, although it is still operated as a separate company.

Well, then it can only be one thing... the Daihatsu Rocky

We have a winner. The Rocky was manufactured pretty much unchanged for over a decade, but only imported to the States for 3 years, 1990-1992. I got mine in 1998 and still have it. I bet with the economy and gas prices the way they are, Daihatsu would be more successful now.

Send me your info and I'll get your booty sent out.

  • urbinourbino Posts: 4,517
I guess it's just as well I was ineligible for this question. I've never even heard of the Rocky.
