I hate to ask this and if you can please put your politcal party aside, why the hell are we in this middle east conflict?
I have wondered that as well. A couple things come to mind.
One, a friend of mine knows someone in Tehran. His friend in Tehran was sending videos of massive riots in the streets, and the regime's response consisting mainly of automatic weapons being used on the protesters, for TWO WEEKS before Israel and the U.S. commenced the attack.
So, perhaps it was just that someone felt that the time was right?
Two, the obvious stated by Shawn, above. They've been threatening us and building their armaments and funding terror throughout half the world and working feverishly on attaining nuclear status ever since Jimmy Carter was president, and someone felt that they were getting too close to being too big to spank. Mr. Joe Kent disagrees, and he may be right. But, I know nothing at all about him, for all I know his idea of "imminent threat" may not be put into play until the weapon's loaded, the hammer is cocked back, the safety's off, and the Mullah's are laughing maniacally.
And then, there's the point that Edward made in the Quote of the Day thread:
Freedom has always been best preserved by gifting it to others.
Nicoise salad from the French seaport of Nice. Big bowl of lettuce with assorted eggs, olives, cheeze, arranged around the outside. Protein in the center in this case part of a strip steak. Oil, garlic, mustard, honey and white wine vinegar dressing.
