(6) reported an association between circulating levels of erythritol and enhanced thrombotic potential and increased risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events such as myocardial infarction and stroke. Utilizing targeted metabolomics analyses, elevated erythritol levels were positively associated with a 3-year incidence of non-fatal and fatal heart disease and stroke.
