New releases with a vitola option.Could you please elaborate?
I agree with Edward. I have a buddy who did every COTM he could find when he started out, and the vast majority of what he received was stuff I've already tried. A COTM that focuses on newly released cigars (last 6 months or so) would be nice, but if I open it and it's full of churchills and gordos I'm immediately cancelling, and giving the sticks to someone else.
It's been asked higher up, but is the goal to entice new smokers, or experienced ones? New smokers want to try the classics, and usually in larger sizes. Experienced smokers would want stuff they haven't seen before, and usually in a corona, robusto or lonsdale.
Re: Whatcha smokin this afternoon??
A Gran Cuba, smoked about an inch. I found a review from 2012, said it was meh and he was right. Also a search turned up an old Thompson listing, bundles of 25/$25 lol. Going to smoke another inch and leave it in the ash tray for the rain gods due this evening.
Re: Whatcha smokin this afternoon??
An old la Gloria Cubana serie r from the yardgars sampler. Unlike present day ones it has a closed foot. Also sweetened tip that I don't much care for.

So did they get rid of the daily cigar auction?
Auction? If you're referring to Sprint Sale, that was removed from the site effective July 1st. (We do still have Daily Cigar Deal, which consists of three deals plus free shipping live for a 24-hour period.) We now have Connoisseur's Corner, which is a variety of higher-end deals per month, which rotate out as they sell out, so there's always at least six deals in the category.
Without getting into any major technical details, the code created many years ago which created Sprint Sale was breaking -- a lot. It was also beginning to jeopardize CIGAR.com as a whole, which not only put the business at risk, but it stood the potential to put customer info at risk, which I do not stand for. Unlike other sites out there, we don't compromise consumer information, nor do we lack cybersecurity. We're continually updating our cybersecurity since hackers seem to love cigars, and those hackers are systematically attacking other sites.

Another bargain sampler smoke, looks like this run of Gregorio sticks are 15 years old...
Felipe Gregorio Azemour 50/50 Sultan
This five and a half inch by 52 ring gauge smoke features filler that is 50% Moroccan Azemour tobacco. The result is a medium-bodied smoke with a dry, cedary flavor and an interesting hint of plum. The taste is consistent throughout, which leaves it slightly one-dimensional. The construction is flawless, however, allowing this unique cigar to produce an abundance of aromatic smoke.
