Just tried my new cheap soft flame pipe lighter with tools and stand from amazon. Doesn’t fry the top of my corncob like the jet flame lighters but definitely not wind proof.

Got these in today to use at work. The cheap cobs I brought to work last week broke. These are Crown brand. They're rather small but look and feel well enough made. I'll find out in a week or so.
Top one appears to be a "Bing" , not sure what style the bottom one is, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a Dublin.

Arrived back in TN, at least for now, just ahead of the storms. Nice package awaiting! Perfect shade of green on that hat, Steve. Thanks! Margate is one of my favorite pipe tobaccos, hard to find. The Bengal Slices is another old favorite, but I hadn't had the Single Barrel, one I've been wanting to try. Nice set of bodyguards, too. Much appreciated.

"Winnings" from @silvermouse , all but the PS Balkan Supreme are new to me, so WINNING!
Thank you very much, Edward. I looked at the dates and yes, well aged indeed!

Got this in today. The ad didn't say made in China. Oh well. It did come with a few dozen charcoal filters and a dozen pipe cleaners. There was no filter pre-installed. I just wish it looked like the picture in the ad.
This is what it's supposed to look like.
Should I **** and return it? Even the band is a different finish.

Do you know what kind of wood that is? I've seen concerns and reports of bad reactions from smoking from pipes from China that aren't briar wood. Is be inclined return it.

The ad said briar. It's very heavy for it's size.

This is the box it came in. Says it's a #66. They were out of, or never even had the pictured pipe and sent this instead. I'm done with buying pipes on Amazon. Amazon needs to state when something is made in China. Oh well, live and learn, I guess.
I'll give it a shot. If I get sick I'll toss it.

To @Yakster point... If you don't know what type of wood it's made of, I wouldn't trust my health to them. Some have toxins and carcinogens we should really avoid.
I get the allure of the artistry of a well crafted pipe, but Cobbs can be had from a site from Missouri that are beautiful in their own right and amazingly cheap. Also, I would say a well crafted pipe is a long time investment and would worry a cheapy would break down quickly.

Also received this tiny pipe today. Also doesn't look like the picture. I think I'll stick to wysiwyg pipe ads.
I usually buy from Smokingpipes.com or Pipes & Cigars.com. One of the best things about SP is that the pipe you see in the picture IS the pipe that you will receive in the mail. I like that. Not sure about P&C on that count, but I've never been disappointed with what they send.
There's lots of reasonably priced pipes, Bjarne / Viking, Brigham, Chacom, Stanwell is one of my favorites, Peterson and Nording run the gamut from quite inexpensive to, well, pretty expensive. There's more. The exact dimensions are listed on those sites. You can always check out the Estate pipes as well, might save a little money that way.
Happy hunting.

Well, that would be classified as "Enabling", rather than "Advising". It's a whole 'nother level just strewn with guilt traps and embarrassing situations. Very co-dependent. Besides, I don't know how to post a link. I've done it, but I couldn't begin to tell you how.

This is what the ad says:
Melody Full Bent Pipe - Model No: 88 Consul Pecan - Mediterranean Briar Wood Pipes For Smoking - Hand Made
I just found the same pipe picture on Mr Brog's site. Describing it as a #82 instead of #88.

Agree, I don't buy pipes from Amazon.
Y'all gotta quit posting in here. It's causing my acquisition disorder to flair up.

If only some of you A-holes would post some reputable pipe dealer/vendor links to steer new pipe smokers in the right direction.

They used to. Missed revenue.
