A mixture of C&D Sunday Picnic and Bourbon Blue in a 70’s Charatan’s Make. These two tobaccos compliment one another beautifully and there’s just a hint of bourbon in the retrohale.

So how did you figure out that blend? Do you experiment? I usually take leftovers and dump in one jar but didn't think about experimenting with just mixing two blends.

@jsnake After smoking a blend a few times, I come up with thoughts of what may make it better for my tastes. After years of smoking pipes (and cigars) and a LOT of trial and error with blending, I know what most individual pipe tobaccos should add to a blend. When I first smoked the C&D Sunday Picnic I knew I would be having some fun with using it in custom blends. It is a great VaPer by itself, and makes a wonderful addition to other blends. I’m not much of a fan of aromatics, but I’ve found that mixing them with a VaPer base livens up the flavor profile and reduces the “topping” flavor to a more palatable level (for me)

I am probably the opposite of you. I like more of a sweet flavor and often find tobaccos that are good but need a little something more. I don't like a nicotine punch. I want to smoke and relax and feel dizzy and green. I've tried some borderline English and Virginia crossover blends if you will. On the edge of being aromatic. I'm trying to expand my tastes.
I would suggest that you try a few blends that I have grown quite fond of. If it turns out that you don’t like them, I will trade you something fir them.
the other things that I keep on hand is 4+oz of Peter Stokkeby Natural Dutch Cavendish and some good Perique. They are both very useful. But you have to use the Perique very lightly. It packs a punch!

Rattay’s Bagpiper’s Dream (2014) in my old 60’s International Selection Italian pipe. I just opened the can, so the tobacco is a bit wet, but the flavor is not bad at all. I am anxious to see how it is after airing out a bit.

That's what I did with this first one but I have noticed a difference in buildup based on how full the bowl is at the initial light. It seems like it takes a bit before I hit the rhythm and once I hit it, it almost seems to pleateau. Maybe I'm a poor smoker. But the pipes I have cake in only show it from the half to three quarter mark up the bowl wall. Below that is bare and above it is just an occasional single spot
Today I am enjoying the new SPC Plum Pudding Special Reserve in my Nording Signature. Man, this stuff is amazing...I will stock up when I get back to the states.

I almost cracked a tin of Frog Morton Cellar. I want to but I have so many jars filled I really need to smoke those up before opening new stuff. I need to smoke more.
A little late with this one... A few days ago I had a bowl of C&D Bourbon Bleu while walking around the resort, then I sat down to have a bowl of SPC Plum Pudding. It paired very well with the Turkish beers

So what did you think of this one and the Bourbon Bleu? I am a huge fan of the King Cake and I want to pick up a tin of each one in this series. Maybe 2 tins so I can age one and try one. King Cake is amazing out of the tin but they recommend aging it to hit its peak so I hid away a few tins.

I love the Joie de Vivre. I was able to pick up a few of tins of it that already have over 4 years...put two in the cellar and opened one to see how well it is aging. It is a great blend when fresh, and even better with some age. I’m excited to see how it changes over time. The Bourbon Bleu is good as well. It is a staple in my rotation when I want something a little different. I like all of the C&D Cellar blends that I have tried so far. The Oak Alley is stronger and in my opinion, it needs some age, and will only get better with longer aging.
I missed the opportunity at a 5 tin sampler of the cellar series on Ebay a few days ago that went at a great price. I could tell from the labeling that it had 3+ years on it. It would have made a great addition to my cellar

Today I am having a custom blend of 2/3 C&D Sunday Picnic flake and 1/3 C&D Cross Eyed Cricket in an old Bari Squash estate pipe. The more time that I play around with this Sunday Picnic flake, the more that I love it. It is a great VaPer blend on its own, it can be a wonderful addition to round out other blends, and as I have been using it in recent weeks, it is a great base blend to add an aromatic tobacco to
