That's a great deal unless the coffee sucks. I assume it's all decent. I ordered all the samplers, even the $1 per 2oz pre ground nitrogen purged bags because I'm thinking of sneaking them into Dad's coffee maker to see how he reacts. I'll just claim I put too much coffee in it.
At the time of this writing, the near-futures coffee prices on the ICE exchange (a.k.a. the “C price”) was sitting at an all-time high of around US$4.03 per pound.
I'm flabbergasted by the price jump in green coffee and somewhat conflicted about how I should react to it.
Based on what I think is the major reason for the push upward, investors and not coffee drinkers, I doubt that the price increase will translate to any benefit for the ones producing it.
How many times
did you sit up with me? Kindle my thoughts,
be my only friend.
how many times did I ask you for an answer?
Sitting in my hole at night waiting together
to die, maybe.
You were my only company, you kept me going.
I forsake the world sometimes, yes.
But never you.
Don’t you see,
you were my friend and I was yours.
I looked into your black depths
and was nourished by your warmth.
Sometimes you would not let me rest.
I hated you for that.
But how could a grunt hate his only friend?
A lot of time
has passed now.
But I still have you.
Old friends are the best.

I can tell you the coffee where I’m staying in Mexico is worse than sewer sludge. I think my palate is ruined.
A good cigar and whiskey solve most problems.
Dad uses an old drip coffee maker and grounds from a can of folgers or maxwellhouse.

My dad was ahead of the game, hand grinding coffee in his Parker 555 mill and buying Trader Joe's single origin coffee.
