Rain for the past three days. Wind tonight with 70 mph gusts. Saturated earth and strong winds tend to uproots trees out here in the boonies. I'll stay out of the woods and the widow makers until the wind stops.
aw, geez, here comes another one, snow this time but not high winds on top of astronomical high tides. I'm beginning to dislike March weather. At least it's not hurricane season, yet.
...HEAVY SNOW AND ICE POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE NORTH
CAROLINA MOUNTAINS SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY...
.A strong upper level disturbance combined with a strengthening
area of surface low pressure will bring increasing moisture to
the area Sunday. Warm air aloft combined with cold air near the
surface will cause the precipitation to begin as freezing rain at
the higher elevations. As colder air begins filtering into the
mountains Sunday night, the precipitation will mix with sleet and
change to snow. Snow and ice are expected to accumulate across
mainly the higher elevations of the North Carolina mountains,
with the highest amounts in the northern mountains.
...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING
THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow
accumulations of up to 3 inches and ice accumulations of around
one tenth of an inch are possible. Isolated locations may see
snow up to 5 inches and ice up to a quarter of an inch.
* WHERE...Avery, Yancey and Mitchell Counties.
* WHEN...From Sunday evening through Monday afternoon.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions,
especially during the morning commute on Monday. Significant
reductions in visibility are possible.
Instructions:
A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.
Target Area:
Avery Mitchell Yancey I'm in Avery county at 3500 ft. March is roaring like a lion.

19 degrees and 5 inches of snow right now. Supposed to be more snow the next todays. I earn my cigars by taking a walk in the woods. I walk out on a ridge and drop down into our spring hollow. Then back along the bottom of the hollow and up the side of the ridge to a clearing and then I take another lap. All this takes about a half hour in normal weather. In this weather it takes almost a hour. I'm ready for spring!!!

8-10 inches expected for central PA tonight!!! Looking beautiful down here in Carlisle but I'm not looking forward to the drive home on 81.
