Found another buck scrape on my AM walk. Also found a bunch of apples and scattered corn bait pile. Took a look around and saw two nearby trees that could hold stands. Looks like I'll have to be wearing some blaze orange on my walk.
Not long ago I saw a recipe online for Homemade Hamburger Helper that looked simple and tasty. Since I have some ground sirloin in my freezer that needs to be used and most of the ingredients it seemed like a great idea. The background story is that for the last 3-4 years my dinners have consisted of prepared individual dinners that are donated to Teen Challenge - the drug/alcohol rehab I volunteer at - and since they need to make meals for 30 people, the individual frozen meals are of little use. For reasons unknown to me, a couple of weeks ago the well went dry for my meals (I miss the uber-convenience, as well as how good they were) so now I am left to fend for myself. Today was the day to make the HHH... a 45min. of prep and cooking netted me five portions, which happens to be how many nights a week I eat dinner at home. Most of you are shrugging your shoulders, but because I haven't cooked anything other than oatmeal in a long time, it was a big deal for me. I'd post a pic but it looks kinda like dog vomit. We'll see how it tastes later today.
And... a neighbor across the street and three houses down made an offer to trade some burlap coffee bags for a bottle of whiskey that I of course took him up on. Jim was living in this neighborhood when I showed up 42 years ago and as long as I can remember he's had frequent rummage sales. It used to be 3-4 weekends a month but he's in his late 70's now so he's slowing down. He can often be seen cruising the alleys in his pickup truck looking for tossed treasures. Over the years, Jim's fame has spread such that when some old farts die their surviving children or grandkids would contact Jim to clean out the house the take whatever he wanted, which meant his rummage sales always had some good stuff. That's probably where the whiskey came from based on the age of the stamps and seals on the bottle. I've given him some cigar boxes to sell, and last week he asked for some burlaps. I don't know what else to do with them so I said sure thing. I don't know what to do w/ the whiskey either but I'm going to find out.
Found seven buck scrapes and two partially healed buck rubs on my two and a half mile AM walk. We got lots of deer. Also saw a trail camera set up overlooking a baited area. I waved to the camera. Season opened for rifle Monday. Wearing an ugly orange hat these days.
He's in northern Wisconsin. They all have zambonies
So that's how they get to work! Good to know.

It will work a lot better under the skin. There is membrane, just use you hand to separate the skin from the meat. Place the bacon on the meat carefully to ensure it is flat with no overlaps. If done correctly the bacon and the skin will become 1 and the bacon directly on the meat will keep it moist. It is better than deep fried.

Washed the dishes and pots, cleaned the kitchen, stowed the leftovers. Rachel spent the better part of the day cooking. It's just the two of us now but, ...Thanksgiving.
Sent a couple of days cutting back rhododendron around my studio. Filled up my 10'x5' trailer six feet high three times.Took it about 75 yards down the road and unloaded over the bank. Been using the same dump site on our land for forty years. Only cut brush as the dimensional off cuts go in the burn pile. Never burn rhododendron as the fumes are toxic.
Rhys got another goal today. They won both games. His team looks good they are working together for the most part which is great at this age/group lvl. Half the team is still mite eligible which means they are young. Im excited to see how the kids progress through the season.

Got the new zamboni garage heater hung. Was hoping to get it wired and gas connected but I've had enough for today. Sucks doing stuff by yourself.
By yourself? Didn’t you breed an entire workforce???
@Jrflickster , you have a zamboni?
