Kevin,
Don't really know you...but any member of this forum is my brother/sister. So your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Should go without saying but if you all need anything....just reach out and let us know!

Thanks to y'all who have prayed for my family in the past. Renewed prayers would be much appreciated...
1. Mrs. Puff's mom, who has been recovering from a broken hip, has been diagnosed with cancer and is scheduled for surgery on July 5th. Hoping it's localized and not in the lymph nodes.
2. Our 16-year-old (Sam) is prepping today for an endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow, which will tell us if the meds he's been taking for the last several months have worked, or if he will need surgery to remove a section of his small intestine.
3. I'm still sorting out job options - waiting on three possibilities and need wisdom on what path to take.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours, Doug.
Cancer surgery is a scary prospect but techniques get better all the time, as does the success rate. Be strong, my friend.
I can kinda relate. I’m currently recuperating from a re-section of my small intestine, though not cancer related this time. Still not fun, though.1 -
Keeping you all in my prayers

Thanks, brothers. Sam had his scopes today, which confirmed he will need to have surgery in the next two months. We'll meet with his GI doc next Wednesday to discuss details."When I have found intense pain relieved, a weary brain soothed, and calm, refreshing sleep obtained by a cigar, I have felt grateful to God, and have blessed His name." - Charles Haddon Spurgeon0

Best of luck to Sam; my wife had that surgery and it saved her life. I hope the stresses you all are shouldering ease up soon. Keep your chin up.3

Very sorry to hear this, brother. I'll be thinking of you in the days to come.
On a related note, I once wrote a research proposal concerning post-surgical confusion in hip surgery patients. Hip surgery has been noted to have just about the highest incidence of confusion of any surgery, and no one knows exactly why. It can be quite scary for the family.
Possible causes include pain, hypothermia, blood loss, micro-clotting leading to transient ischemic conditions in the brain among others. Interestingly, one thing I saw in my researching the research was that accupuncturists put the needles in the hip region to treat confusion. A possible link? I don't know.
The good news is that it usually passes in a couple weeks, and they usually have no memory of it. It's like, one day they wake up and suddenly you've got your Mom / Dad / whoever back. So, if you see it, be patient, it will most likely resolve.
(And don't yell at the nurses, it's not their fault, and it doesn't help.)WARNING: The above post may contain thoughts or ideas known to the State of Caliphornia to cause seething rage, confusion, distemper, nausea, perspiration, sphincter release, or cranial implosion to persons who implicitly trust only one news source, or find themselves at either the left or right political extreme.
