Typical Mo weather, record high temps last week, below freezing this morning. High temps forecasted in the 80s this weekend.

We've dropped down into the 90's this week , calling for 70's by Saturday. Our fall tends to be brief.

Snowed till midday and a hard freeze tonight. We still have folks without power up here. Helos still delivering generators, food, firewood, and water. The arts community in Asheville took a big time hit and most of Asheville is still under a boil water directive. I have a friend who's neighbors were swept off the roof of their house and drowned. Lucy and I were lucky.

653 houses here in northeast Avery County are still without power. Does not include the 285 that got power back yesterday.

I woke up this morning to ~3" of snow. Not even a flurry up to this point. The sight of the first snow made me happy, and I grinned from ear to ear, just like I did when I was a little kid.
The way the seasons turn and the way each turning seems like a fresh experience always astounds me, and I love it. I mean, I've consciously experienced 60+ fresh snowfalls, or the first breeze of winter breaking and spring approaching, or the smell of fallen leaves, but it's new every year. I don't get it, but it's great the way the seasons change and impact me.

Starting to snow here. Supposed to get 4-6 inches tonight and more tomorrow. I enjoy getting my layers on, grabbing my walking stick and heading out for a couple of miles in the snow. It's quiet and I can track deer, coyotes, and turkeys.
