Also, a briar pipe should be rested for a week or so after a couple of bowls to let it dry out. Cobs are more forgiving. Though it should be mentioned that, back in the day, folks often had but a single pipe and smoked it all day, every day.

Experimenting on an inexpensive pipe is a good place to start with tuning up a pipe.
I usually end up resting my pipes a week or more before smoking them again only because I have a large rotation of pipes, but I think a day or two would be fine.

Not going to lie, i use my pipes almost daily, but i also tend to over dry my tobacco because it seems easier to pull and i like more smoke. Same could be said about my cigars, i tend to keep them at 62-65.

Well, maybe some new pipe bits, too. They're cheap and some of the ones I've got now are getting grungy past cleanability.

Wasn't really looking, ahem, but with the uncertainty of Sutlliff's future, here we are. That was SP's last tin of Cringle Flake. My intent was to buy 5 of those. Once I learned I could only have one, well, I started looking further. No point in spending postage on just one when you could have free shipping. If you buy $100 worth.

First off, the physical place of Deception Pass is one of the most beautiful, pristine and breathtaking places in Washington state. One of my favorites. As far as the tobacco, I’ve tried it twice now, with two different tasting experiences. I will smoke again this weekend and get back to you.

Lol, I didn't doubt the existence of the Pass, sorry if I gave that impression, just the use of the name.
I went through Washington state with my family when I was young, about 12 years old. I have always meant to get back to it. It reminded me very much of where we'd been living in southern Alaska. I miss that part of the world sometimes.
If what I see on documentaries is realistic I'm afraid that returning will not live up to the memory. This happened to me with Cimarron and Raton pass. After having told my wife of the pristine wonders we headed there, about 25 years after my time there. Not the same experience at all. You can't go back to where you were then, because now is now.

It was a thrift store find, I've had it in my office for a while, now that I'm cleaning out a lot of the junk it looks even better in there. I got rid of about four cigar boxes full of pipes sitting on a sideboard and put them in the new cabinet.
