Got this in today. When I ordered it I thought it looked fantastic. Now it just looks a little gaudy to me. Looks like it's made of plastic. Looks good in the picture, though. I'm done ordering pipes for a while. Got it out of my system.

Got this Stanwell in today. The rim of the bowl looks a lot redder in the picture. That was why I bought it. I liked the contrast between the black stain and the reddish rim. Oh, well. I'm sure it will be a good smoker. It has a pretty big chamber, too. Came with a churchwarden stem as well.
Don't think I'll even use it, but you never know, I might get curious.

I'm smoking one of my HCA's right now, same finish as that one. I also have one the same shape, but smooth finish. I rarely use the churchwarden stem, but sometimes it's kind of cool. I mean, if you watch anything from Lord of the Rings, well, it's a must.

That's funny. I knew who Hans Christian Andersen was when I was 6 years old, my curiosity was why they named a pipe after him.
He remains relevant today, e.g. Disney's still remaking movies about his stories, and the logic of "The Emporer's New Clothes" can be readily applied to the publics response to both political parties at any given moment.

Found this writing on the stem. Interesting. That's who H.C. Andersen is, had to Google him.
I was wondering why that spot wasn't black.

At that age I was more into cartoons than classic fairy tales. I take it HCA was into this style of pipe?

Never figured it out. For me the thing was that I just loved to read. By age 8 I had read most of my Dad’s college textbooks, except math. I was even weirder then than I am now.

Hopefully I've got it out of my system for a while.

Got this when I googled him and pipes.

Kinda like a Sherlock Holmes pipe is often a calabash, but in the books he didn’t smoke one.
Got the last of my pipes in today. Up first is an unsmoked Peterson's Aran 107 Billiard.

Next is a Roger's Rarity Bulldog.

Unfortunately, the chamber is only about an inch or less in depth.
And last is a Ratray's Rhodesian which has a nice, deep chamber.

Hopefully I've got it out of my system for a while. Although, there are a couple nice looking Savinellis I was looking at.

Good lookin stuff Shawn. How big of a chamber are you looking for? This one here has a little size to it…

Now THATS a tall bowl.
