1 The reason the “Big Beautiful Bill” has all of these cuts to Medicare, and Medicaid and the affordable care act, is that money went to pay for the trillion dollars given to the wealthy in the form of tax cuts.
2 Total federal taxes: In 2022, undocumented immigrants paid $59.4 billion in federal taxes, which included $19.5 billion in income taxes and $32.3 billion in payroll taxes.
State and local taxes: They also paid $37.3 billion in state and local taxes, including sales, excise, and property taxes.
Effective tax rate: Undocumented immigrants are estimated to pay a higher effective state and local tax rate than the top 1% of earners in most states.
Ineligible for benefits: A significant portion of these tax payments, such as those for Social Security and Medicare, go toward programs from which undocumented workers are legally barred from receiving benefits
You didn’t pay a dime for any emergency care they may have needed, they’ve been paying in for years to federal and state programs they can’t even use….

Turned out when we checked the social security number given by the department, it belonged to a Venezuelan woman who had worked for us for years.
We learned she had been using someone else’s SS# all those years.
