waste not, want not
"We’ve all heard the proverb, “Waste not, want not.” This old saw has its origins from 1576 in, The Paradise of Dainty Devices by Richard Edwardes, a distinguished lyricist and playwright who was rumored to be an illegitimate son of Henry VIII. On page 88 the proverb was written as: “For want is nexte to waste, and shame doeth synne ensue.”
"In 1721 the saying was recorded in an easier to understand version: “Willful waste makes woeful want.” Then, on August 10, 1772 in a letter to Alexander Clark, John Wesley wrote the saying in the more familiar: “He will waste nothing; but he must want nothing.”"

Times of concern for sure, and who knows. Not sure if gas shortages in the 70's with 10 % interest on houses, Nam, cold war, depression, the start of the country were any better or worse .... Not taking what you are saying lightly at all. Not saying I agree with everything going on.But it also seems as if we are in a time where political roles are changing. World is smaller and for good or bad , it seems as if money and powerful people have more ability to negotiate than countries working together.Corporate taxes in 1970 were 49% and although on paper some would say today’s corporations pay 26% there are enough loopholes that many pay far less than that.
So comparing the two economies today vs yesteryear’s is not apples to apples.
And the most hilarious thing about MAGA is their slogan Make America Great Again.
While I don’t pretend to know exactly what era “again” is referring to but. Prior to 1980 the wealthy paid 70% income tax while prior to 1960 it was over 90%.
Reagan brought us “trickle down” economics in 1980 and the wealth gap in America has steadily increased.
Just some FYI for you to ponder.

If the wealthy paid 90% taxes, there would be no wealthy people. They've always had loopholes to dodge taxes.
Trapped in the People's Communist Republic of Massachusetts.

Math is math bro, if the starting point is 90% and as you claim there were always loops holes, what's the final tally vs 37% and even more loops holes? I mean two terms and 2 trillion in cuts mostly benefiting who? Not you......
You're looking to explain away the obvious. Your guy isn't working for the middle class..
Bottom line.

Wasn't comparing economics. Stating that times have looked bad in the past as well, and many folks have made serious money in politics, on both sides.

Darn him, he should have learned more from the Clintons and from Harris about not making money.

Clinton left office with a balanced budget. The Trump administration after handing out yet another trillion dollars to the social elite in tax cuts, literally just asked Americans to pay extra to pay down the deficit. So while no, Trump doesn't need to ask anyone how to make money, he has perfected the art of scamming from others (just ask the poor folks who bought into his "Baja Resort").
He isn't working for you. And Yes you were comparing economics what do you think you call the price of gas? It's an economic gauge.
Fk this is why debating with MAGA is so frustrating they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.. But can't stop from patting themselves on the back after making one more completely idiotic argument.

Dems had total power under Biden, white house, Senate and house. I just wonder why they didn't teach those billionaires a lesson when they had the chance to overturn Trump's giveaways. Same with all your Dem saviors of the last 50 years

true that ^ One thing that didn't change under dem and repub control is the right of corporations to engage in political spending during elections, thereby making money more of a factor than it should be. ( Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission in 2010, upholding the rights of corporations to make unlimited political expenditures).

How about we give them the right to spend on elections if they donate the same amount to reducing the debt

I don't like it; the amount that would be 'donated' to reduce the debt would be a drop in the bucket, and the damage of corporations donating as individuals would be ongoing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYr5TNONT04Please, enlighten us as to why your side is SO much smarter and better than ours? Please explain why we should back a party whose main objective is to destroy the country we love?
You've already demonstrated that you're the most ethical person on your side of the aisle when you recognized that Omar's exploits were unethical, that starting with $0.00 -> $30 million in a years time with no discernible means is probably criminal. What you failed to recognize was that people who start the fiscal year with billions of dollars in assets tend to end the year with more billions of dollars than they started with.
The rest of us were already aware of this news-to-you bit of information.
I'm sure you won't watch the video, no one on your side of the aisle wants to know what's behind the curtain.

I’m so happy Amos has come clean about being MAGA.
Ours = MAGA
💯 Proof you LOVE the DONALD J. TRUMP.
I even posted like he does just to make you smile.

If you say so, whatever. The actual meaning of "ours" was people who love this country and wish to preserve it, but, whatever suits you, I'm okay with it.

You still love MAGA. You ARE MAGA. You voted for a guy who shĩts all over our Constitution just to make a buck, you love it. You say things like “preserve our country” but this guy is burning it down. Keep “saying” but no doing…..

I really enjoy this. So many of my special Ed students used to fight with emotions and attempt to belittle others in order to prove a point. Brings back memories.

From things he said I would have to find him to be a very wise man, and also a man kinder than some of his statements. Never the less I can't back down from what I see. Point is , the use of sarcasm and misdirection of issues are things I think he is good at. As far as insulting him, if I did so then let this be an apology. Politics and religion are each persons belief, and I have no intention of disrespecting anyone. Last note on this, My special Ed kids were a treat to deal with. Many of them could read a person far better than written word and had many other great qualities, as does my special Ed son.

@edz I was literally waiting for this response, I thank you.
First, he who controls the emotion wins the argument. Right or wrong. Secondly, I’m literally doing exactly what the President does. I’ve even used his quotes. That’s what’s ironic. I do it and I’m some left wing loon full of hate (still registered as a Republican btw) but the President degrades and dehumanizes his “opponents” and he’s some kind of messiah. He is such a hateful person as evident in celebrating the death of Mueller and threatening genocide but that’s cool. I don’t pick and choose what amendments should be defended, they all should be. This guy goes after journalists and comedians to silence them using the DOJ to exact his revenge, with tax payers dollars.
We have had at record highs in gas, beef up 20%, cutting medical assistance and wanting states to pay for it. All the while he’s trying to build a ballroom (which he now wants you to pay for, Google it. New security funding bill), His sons are making millions and millions and millions and you get boned harder and harder and harder. Just seems pretty backwards to me.

Marco Rubio on the Strait of Hormuz….
“This is the first step toward reopening the strait,” he added. “We are doing it not only because we were asked, but because we are the only ones that can.”
WTF! Yall caused it to close in the first place! Arsonist firefighters…..
Edit…
I just told my wife that she needed to replace all my cigars that were burnt up this month…. She said “but you’re the one who smoked them all, right?” Damn…. She saw right through that. Pretty smart person I guess…..
