Re: Rum
gripnrip:I know virtually nothing about rum, other than the occasional Bacardi/Coke. Any advice on premium rum, especially rum that goes with a fine cigar? Different rums for different sticks. Alex wrote a really good article on rum/cigar pairings a few months ago. If you hunt around on the site I'm sure you could probably… -
Finally found the mixer...........
I was born in Germany in the mid 50s to German parents, and we immigrated to the USA in the late 50s. When I was young during the 60s and 70s, we made many trips to Germany to visit family, etc. Sometimes I'd spend the summer there. Most of you know about German beer, some of the best in the world, and some of the… -
Re: Martel's Marvelous Musings on Magnificent Miasmas of Merit
"By Tatuaje." I guess that makes this my first Tat. I found its construction to be very high quality. The cigar felt nice in the hand. A light touch along the stick gave the impression of felt or velvet on the fingers. Fuzzy, if you will. Not oily or dry. Different to the touch from other cigars I've had, for sure. I… -
Re: First cigar
About the draw; you're right that it's a full draw - if you take short puffs, you only heat up the tobacco which turns it bitter. If you wanna know what a proper draw is like, take a glass of water and a straw - suck the water in then spit it out - that's how your draws should be. You use the suction from your cheeks, not… -
Re: Odd Cigar Pairing
The Sniper:Me bruddahs, I made a shocking discovery this morning in cigar pairings - popped a pomegranate 5 hour energy shot this morning after finishing a Drew Estates Chateau Real Maduro and that nasty taste 5 hour energy shots usually have was nowhere to be found! Personally, I think the 5 Hour Energy makers should… -
The Dentist
My Dentist is a great guy he does good work. Unfortunately, I've needed a lot of it this week including a tooth extraction. A tooth extraction is little bit like wrestling, except you can only use your neck and the other guy has you on your back with a pair of pliers in your mouth. Tooth extraction probably hasn't changed… -
Re: I smoked a good cigar from....
RCY Cigars:For a 8 year old cigar, that I was told it probably will taste like paper. You were wrong, it did not taste like paper, lol. It had a really light cocoa taste throughout. No spice or pepper and it seem to be medium then died down to a mild stick. Thank you Sir for this gift. This is what I pair it with too. Look… -
Gurkha and a glass of wine
A few months back I had an interesting experience when pairing a merlot with a Gurkha Grand Reserve torpedo. It was a nice night out and the wife and I decided to open a bottle we had been saving/using as decoration and sit outside. Opened the bottle and pored us each a glass; the wine was room temperature (around 70… -
Re: Eat, Drink, Smoke
Scrambler:Tonight it's a 5 Vegas Miami, with an iced cafe au lait. mmmm. Scrambler:Tonight I am smoking a Gurkha Regent tht came in my PIF from Kuzi. Great stick, my first Gurkha. I paired it with a nice tall, ice cold glass of chocolate milk. I read somewhere that chocolate milk is supposed to great with cigars. I thought… -
Re: need some advice
I'll let the other guys talk about the drinks that could be paired with your cigars, they have much more experience with that type of stuff, but to answer your first question, your experiencing what is called cigar mouth. Basically, the smoke and other stuff from the cigar has attached itself to your mucous, the stuff on…
