Helped out the City of Perris install 8 of these Tower Gardens at their main office. Great experience and even in 100+ weather the Tower Garden is going strong!
We will be starting kale and collards in flats in the middle of August for our winter garden. Had Swiss Chard on the table tonight and a tomato, basil, onion and arugula salad, all from our garden. Cucumbers and green beans will be ready to start picking at the end of this week. Summer squash is also making. Going to use asian basil, cliantro, chard and watermellon radishes in pho tomorrow for lunch.
Almost finished. Planted the spearmint and peppermint and citronella.
be careful with those mint plants tony @0patience ..... they're vigorous little SOBs, especially in full sun (which it looks like they are).
they'll send out runner in every direction and take over that entire bed within a couple seasons. be prepared to vigorously prune them and rip out their runners.
but on the bright side of things, they're nearly impossible to kill and you'll never run out of fresh mint!
@jgibv Thanks for the info. We're finding that out. I've already had to cut a bunch of runners out. We are thinking of moving them or putting them into a large container. I like containers, because if we don't like a plant, we can pull the container and not have to worry about getting all the roots.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.

yep, it won't take very long for those two mint plants to take over that entire bed!!!
we used to keep our mint plants in containers, but we decided to transplant them into a raised bed (about 8x8 ft) at the back of the yard adjacent to a big patch of english ivy. the mint has taken over the raised bed and about twice/year we'll trim it back to separate the mint from the english ivy. if it wasn't for the english ivy and raised bed already being back there, i'd have never put the mint in the ground.
I direct seeded two kinds of radishes, and cilantro yesterday and started a flat of lettuce and arugla..I'll be starting the winter garden with a flat with kale, nappa cabbage, and asian greens tomorrow. Got to get our winter garden in the ground the last week of August.
We have had a small problem with rabbits this year. The critters have been going after our lettuce and beets. I found a rabbit nest with three little ones yesterday about 15 feet from our garden. As is my practice I don't like to interfere with the natural world while all those in it are raising their young so i left the nest alone and broke out some chicken wire to protect our garden. Hope those little bug eyed bunnys appreciate it.

Ghost Peppers are loving this heat and have finally put out some flowers
last week this pepper was just the size of the pea. Should turn red soon... Nothing like a fresh Ghost Pepper to spice up your favorite Mexican Food
This bed is a 4x8 and should be full by winter
The corn... well it didn't do so good... I'll try again next year in a different location
