Dusted off this waterfall project I started last spring. Hoping to get it done this week. We didn't like the small stone one we tried to build back when we installed the pond, so I came up with this design. Here is a shot of the pond before starting the build.
Started with a wood form making a two tier fall for more movement and noise. Here is the form with the predicted water flow drawn in.
Then I covered that in chicken wire to get the shape we wanted and filled that in with expanding spray foam.
After the foam hardened I sanded it down for the final shape.
Then I fiberglassed it and spray painted it gray, but was not pleased with the finish. Did a test section with bondo. Once sanded and painted I was much happier with the result. Now I am in the process of covering the entire piece in bondo. Once that is done I will sand it down with 120 grit.
Here is a shot of where I stopped today.

The books blocking the vent are going to get dirty, I think.
You need more Stephen Coonts.
Yeah they will get dirty over time. I could have either not put a shelf there, which would make the pattern mess up since that's where the stud is, or just put my least important books there, which is what I chose.

Was that color green paint in the clearance section of the store Calvin?
I couldn’t concentrate on what I was trying to read surrounded by that color.
I chose loud colors like that since I work the night shift, and wanted the place to feel alive even when the sun was down. Wait until you see the kitchen and living room.
I picked Pepper Jelly green for the kitchen here and love it. We also have yellow paint in the kitchen and family room. My Wife wants to change it, but it's been that way forever.

Today's progress on the waterfall was finishing applying bondo, sanding, sanding, more sanding, few layers of different shades of gray and black spray paint. Then some more rough sanding by MrsShrek to expose some highlights on the edges.
Selling a house sucks.
You know, if you invest $20k in fixing all those things or sprucing them up, you'll gain $20k in equity.
Wait. What?
So if I do nothing, I lose nothing? 😉
But if I spend $20k and do a crap load of work, I'll gain $20k in value.
Brand new kitchen, appliances are still under warranty. Now the master bath is brand new.
I'm just having a hard time wanting to spend more money, when it doesn't net any more.
I have 2 houses going up for sale and one is pretty much sold before it even hits the market. Which is good.
In Fumo Pax Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
Monday - Saturday: You all have until Sunday to get all the garbage in the carport cleaned up and in the trailer, to haul to the dump. If I have to do it, it all goes to the dump.
Sunday: As I am throwing everything in the trailer, to take to the dump.......
Dad! What are you doing! We were going to clean it all up!
Me: Too late. I warned you I wasn't putting up with it. Over and over and you did not listen.
Now, everything goes.
Them: Some of it is worth something.
Me: All of it has sat out in the carport for months, not used, not moving. It is worth nothing. I need this house cleaned up to sell and if it doesn't sell soon, I'm leaving without it. You follow?

9 out of 10 whoever buys it will rip everything out and do it over to suit themselves. Real estate agents will have you remodel and redecorate to suit their tastes, and then shrug when you lose 10K for your troubles.

Refinished my patio furniture in time for the herf. Stripped it all down with a wire brush, cut and ground off old bolts, welded new stainless steel bolts on, primed and painted.

Just finished refinishing a new to us kitchen table, now she wants oak hardwood stairs. Just what I was hoping for, a **** ton more sanding and staining. Will post when completed.

I sorted through about 40 red oak treads at home depot to the horror of the employees. Must have been about 5 come look in shock as I had three plywood carts laying them out. After picking the 13 that I thought would flow and match the best I put everything back, employees were happy about that. At home I laid out three fleece blankets on my driveway and looked at both sides again and sorted the order I wanted for each flight. The main flight going up is sanded, will sand the second flight tomorrow. Colleen was not thrilled about the blankets on the driveway. We are getting there!

That's my awesome, just so you know. ;-)
All I see are small book looking decorative shelves. Where are all the real books?

Waterfall is all finished. Just some landscaping and mulch left to do around the pond.
When MrsShrek wants a shrub pulled and I don't feel like fighting it, I hook up the winch and let it do all the work. 😄
