Why? What's the point of spending this kind of money to go to the moon? A toxic, inhospitable lump of rock with nothing to gain from it. I am all in favor of science but only if it has a useful goal. I don't see one there but lots of useful goals here that would benefit us taxpayers.
I often feel the same way, Edward. While watching Nova, or something like a video on the making of the James Webb Space Telescope, I'm asking why in the world are we spending that kind of money, to explore this or study that? But on the other side of the coin, how much of the everyday technology we employ and enjoy trickled down from some govt research or military development, and how much of that would've happened if only capitalist motives and money were available?

That's right. We wouldn't have Chernobyl if it weren't for Nagasaki. Would we?
Tho we would prolly have mustard without mustard gas.

Can we drop a rock crusher on him?
Well sure, but I think it's too quick and painless. Ever seen a hammer-mill work? Of course, that might be too quick, too, but it would certainly beat him to death. I suppose a jaw-crusher would be my choice for this guy. It's a large wedge shaped pendulum on an eccentric shaft at the top. As the shaft turns, the wedge goes back and forth in an enclosure that narrows near the bottom, thus the article to be crushed is made smaller and smaller as gravity pulls it downward. Seems, fitting.

Like it has been commented before, physical obstruction combined with modern technology and adequate personnel is the best way to secure the border further.
From the article,
"CBP officials say the bollard fencing remains a valuable border security tool when combined with surveillance technology and sufficient personnel. Many of the wall segments where breaching has occurred lack the sensors, cameras and other detection tools called for in original designs, they say. Once those tools are in place, agents will be able to respond faster, they say."

@deadman 100% agree that's why those ppl that think things will calm down and go back to normal are horribly wrong and in for a surprise. When ppl ask how much do you think it'll cost in the spring will there be a promo or next year...I answer nope best case it'll be the exact same price as right now. Most likely though add 500 hopefully.. maybe more. It's the way it is now atleast up here. I sold more shït since covid and this new administration than I ever have for thousands of dollars more than before. I don't even offer our entry level **** anymore because the prices are so high that the mindset is at that price might as well spend an extra grand for the better one. Our dealerships are the same way the guy we order our fleet trucks from said straight out why would we carry anything other than high country and Denalis if someone wants a new truck all we have is premier shït guess what they buy... and if that person doesn't there's 10 more waiting.
Imagine for a moment what kind of health care we'd have in America if Corporate Bonuses were tied to patient outcomes instead of profit margins?
Because right now, corporate medicine is run by the same kind of Axxhats that lie about dumping chemical waste into the rivers, etc. Same School of Business. Run the bottom line, get my bonus, the workforce should be thought of as chattel to be worked into the ground and then turned into fertilizer.

I can’t remember the chart from economics class but you graph brand name, market share, cost to produce, and consumer willingness to pay. The overlapping area is the price to charge.

Crazy local news story out of west Tennessee today.
Camel kills two men at Obion County petting zoo
The Obion County Sheriff’s Department received a phone call around 5 p.m. Thursday evening of a loose camel at Shirley Farms in Obion, TN. When deputies arrived they found two men unconscious in a field.
According to a press release, 42-year-old Bobby Matheny of Ridgely and 67-year-old Tommy Gunn of Obion were found unconscious at South Bluff Road, with the camel still on the loose.
Sheriff’s deputies, along with other agencies, attempted to move the victims to a safe place.
During that time, the camel attacked an Obion County Sheriff’s Deputy vehicle, and tried to attack deputies attempting to move a victim to EMS.
Due to the aggressive nature of the animal and for the safety of everyone at the scene, officers had to put the camel down.
Both Matheny and Gunn were pronounced dead at the scene.
Yeah, that's all the news here. I'm wondering what set the camel off, too. I remember reading somewhere, though, that camels are by nature unpredictable. A camel herder can feed, groom, and care for a camel for 20 years, then the beast wakes up in a bad mood one day and kicks the herder in the face for no apparent reason.
I know some folks from Ridgely, however, and there's always the possibility that the whole thing began with the words "Hold my beer...watch this!"

" Former President Trump is asking his supporters to help fund his new "Trump Force One" private plane just days after a jet flying him to Mar-a-Lago made an emergency landing when one of its engines failed.
Trump, through his Save America PAC, sent his supporters an email titled "Update Trump Force One" in which he said that "my team is building a BRAND NEW Trump Force One."
He added that the construction of this plane has been under wraps and said "I can't wait to unveil it for everyone to see."
The fundraising email said he had "a very important update on his plane" and asked potential donors if they remember how the former president used to travel across the U.S. in his own "Trump Force One" before he became "the greatest President of all time."
The email included a GIF of a plane taking off with a poll giving donors "yes" or "no" options if they wanted to see his new plane.

Why doesn't he just give a series of 20 minute speeches at every gambling house on Wall Street, the way that presidents before him did? You can buy a beachfront mansion in the Hamptons on that kind of cheese. We know he likes to talk.
