OK, not so major and it is almost melted now. I think lots of schools closed in the eastern half of NC if you can believe it. However, it is cold and windy - upper 30s and 30+mph winds...
Windy and 15° here this morning, a toasty 50° and no wind inside. Warming up with a cup of coffee and a cob pipe of 5 Brothers in front of the wood stove.
Here we go again.
NWS Winter Storm Warning (Avery County)
HIDE
Winter Storm Warning issued January 30 at 4:21AM EST until January 31 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg
...WINTER STORM EXPECTED ACROSS WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY... .A strong storm system will push into the region tonight into Sunday. This combined with cold temperatures will bring a wintry mix of accumulating snow, sleet, and freezing rain to portions of western North Carolina. A gradual transition to rain is expected for most areas sometime Sunday morning into the afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing. ...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM EST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches, except locally 5 inches across the northern mountains and foothills. Ice accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch. * WHERE...Portions of the North Carolina mountains, foothills and far northwest Piedmont. * WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 4 PM EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.
Good luck with the storm. And yes, me too. The upside is weight bearing exercise is good for you and you'll get free wood. Here on the Cape it is $400/cord.
Supposed to FINALLY get some winteration here in DullAware. Even the radar agrees. Just startin to flake a mite. We're hopeful. Sittin here watchingt the naked cherry tree & hoping it will get some snow stickin to it. Got a wheelbarrow and two tubs of firewood waiting in the garage. Got a new anejo rum to open. Ready to perch my butt by the hearth and burn a new test home rolled gar. It's Peruvian habano seco inside Ecuadorian Bronceado binder and a Habano 93 wrapper. Got high hopes for this blend. Naming it La Cholita, cause it's stubby, dark, and Peruvian.
I even baked myself a pork and pea pie:
Lunching it down with kombucha. Nothing like a hot home-made meat pie on a cold day.
Let's rock this storm!
“It has been a source of great pain to me to have met with so many among [my] opponents who had not the liberality to distinguish between political and social opposition; who transferred at once to the person, the hatred they bore to his political opinions.” —Thomas Jefferson (1808)

Hope y'all stay safe Edward. Not as much wind but think we're supposed to get about 9 inches of snow
typical nor'easter for us. We are supposed to get a couple of inches of wet snow turning to heavy, driving rain and above freezing temperatures. Mostly concerned with the trees and losing power.

Across the harbor we are looking at up to a foot + ......
We got over a foot! Got stuck in my driveway at work, even with 4 wheel drive! First time I’ve ever been stuck in 50 years! Luckily my plow guy was only 5 minutes away!
Woke up to only 2" of slush. Thought I dodged a bullet. I get to work to find 6-8" of heavy, wet, partially frozen snow. I have over 300' of sidewalk to shovel at work.

That is what we got too, now raining. Predicted to drop into the low teens overnight. Glad it all melted.
7-9 degrees over night north of Boston
18 degrees here in the mountains. Windy and black ice on the parts of the road that the sun doesn't reach.
Windy and 15° here this morning, a toasty 50° and no wind inside. Warming up with a cup of coffee and a cob pipe of 5 Brothers in front of the wood stove.

Snowing now. Expecting up to a foot+! I’m supposed to be in Florida now, but because of Covid, cancelled! Sucks!
That sucks, Charlie. But at least you don't have to miss any of the fun shoveling.

Our 13" wrapped up yesterday evening. Today is 30* with blue skies and sunshine. Nothing like a fresh blanket of deep snow and bright blue skies.
18 degrees 35mph wind and 8" of new snow. Shaping up to be a old-time NC Mountain winter.
nor'easter was minimal, rain, wind, no damage to the trees, no snow, temp. now is 43°.
