Do you have some way of regulating the amount of moisture it’s pumping out or will it do it continuously?

@Rdp77 there is two separate power plug outlets. One attached to temp and one set to humidity. There is a separate temperature probe sensor and a humidity probe sensor. There are parameters on temp/hum setting. So I can set temp between 65-72 and humidity 62-65. @VegasFrank has same set up. My assumption is when the humidity reaches the parameter setting it will power off. If not, I will employ a timer??? Not 100% sure how everything is going to shake out, still playing with it. The current setup is not employing very much dense moisture. Pretty light.

Even though the humidor was free, I’m still trying to save $$$ being a consummate DIYer.

True, that setup will auto shut off and turn on.

@VegasFrank I think I’m going to go with a different container set up anyways. This one has that foam sealer around the lid which I think overtime could become moldy. Im still concerned the bottom half of the humidor will have much more held humidity within the wood than the top half??? Maybe I’m overthinking? I definitely will follow your previous advice and keep all my Cigars in wrappers in the lower drawers and the non-wrapped cigars in the upper portion of the cabinet. Any other suggestions from anybody would be greatly appreciated.

Got a lot of bad **** that runs in the family. If I can catch diabetes while it’s pre diabetes, or cancer early, I’d rather do that. I’ve lost 5 family members before age 50 to cancer, and every single person on my dad’s side is diabetic. He just got diagnosed last year. Scares the hell out of me.

Yeah definitely use one that doesn't have a rubber gasket or a foam gasket. As a matter of fact, glass or metal would be the best. Both non-porous, both non-smell retaining. However, short of that, just use one of those glad or Ziploc plastic throwaway containers. It'll hold water forever and won't cost you anything.

Every once in a great while, I will find a couple of mold spores at the bottom of my container. I surmise that they came from the cigars themselves. When that happens, I just wash it out with soap and water and then refill. If you use one of the Ziploc semi-disposables, you can just toss it and get a new one when that happens.

As far as the humidity difference between the top and the bottom, you're not overthinking it, but you're over worrying about it. I keep my hydrostat sensor in the middle. I've put hygrometers all up and down the thing at different times. What I have found in my situation is that if I keep the box in the middle at 64, then everything above it will hover right at 62 and everything below it will hover at 67, including next to the water box.

I wouldn't keep open cigars in a tray next to your water container, but I don't have a problem at all with the boxes of cigars that I keep next to it.

The thing to watch out for honestly is the two bottom drawers. They both get a lot of water and I have found mold on cigars in the bottom drawers before. To solve this, I lined the bottom of the drawers with cut up cigar box lid. That keeps the direct water off of them.

Good luck and shout if you need more unwanted advice lol.

If you use the strategy of smoking from the top down, then you can age stuff at the bottom at a slightly higher humidity which will promote oils staying even, and then smoke things on the top, which will promote excellent **** cigars. As you want to smoke things over the next couple of weeks, move them nearer the top.

However, I smoke from all over the **** thing in any random order I choose. They're all still just fine.

The thing to watch out for honestly is the two bottom drawers. They both get a lot of water and I have found mold on cigars in the bottom drawers before. To solve this, I lined the bottom of the drawers with cut up cigar box lid. That keeps the direct water off of them.

One other mistake I made with those bottom two drawers is that one of them contained all of my cigars that I got that didn't have cellophane. This made them even more prone to mold. I have since moved my naked drawer to the top.

Most children don’t tell their parents everything. I’m not trying to be an ****, but I’m sure there is much you don’t know, and unfortunately, both of your daughters should probably get a divorce.

I'm not there just yet on the one currently headed that direction. I don't have a relationship with the Son-in-Law who should be gone, but I do with the other. He's a decent man, and the issues they have could be resolved if they both want to resolve them. I think he would, but the daughter, I'm not sure. Point of fact, I'm more sure she doesn't want to.

I don't care how crazy my daughters end up I'll always have there back. I'm not saying you're wrong i have no idea what she has going on. But I will say if she isn't happy with him what's the point. It's unfair to him mainly but if she's done I wouldn't insert myself into it. You're her dad you have her back no matter what. Best interests is a rabbit hole. U may think u know best but there are alot of factors not just what you think is best. Maybe the son in law actually likes guys? Maybe your daughter can't stand being alone with him anymore. Just saying there's probably more to it.
If Lindsay stuck it out with her ex because her dad liked him because they both like race cars. I wouldnt be married for 14 years with 3 kids and a business. I mean maybe I would but not with her.
