1. Just for the record, what is your job all about? Sounds like it's about ventilation equipment.
Not ventilation, it's more about air purification. We make units that will pull the smoke out of the air and trap the smoke and odor in the filters so that it doesn't linger around your room, settling on your windows, walls, furniture, clothes, etc.
we want to help make people and stores smoking sections enjoyable and accessible to people whether they smoke or not.
Please feel free to message me if you have any more questions.
Been smoking premium cigars since about 2004. Spent 2015-19 managing a destination tarpon fishing lodge in Costa Rica (on the Caribbean coast, just south of Nicaragua).
Got spoiled with an awesome stick rolled for the only B&M shop in San Jose - plus all the habanos I cared to buy. Has a couple of repeat customers who plied me with limited edition sticks.
Hi guys. I’m 44. Ex Tall Ship Captain. Was a traditional wooden shipbuilder for 15 years in Maine. Switched to software engineering to be able to smoke whatever I wanted.
Hi guys. I’m Todd. Been blowing up threads with noob questions, and getting tons of help here. Former TallShip Captain. Built traditional wooden ships for 15 years after that and then went back to school. Now im a software engineer trying to fix everything that hard labor broke.
Enjoying cigars on and off since 1996.
Hey guys, my name is Seth. I’m a traveling technician who is always on the move. My love for premium cigars goes way back to when I was a kid. My mom was a travel agent, so we would visit the Caribbean quite a bit. We were allowed to do basically whatever we wanted ONLY while on vacation. My go to was always getting cigars on the cheap and sitting around enjoying them.
After we quit traveling, I kind of lost touch until I was 18. I then went to a local lounge, and fell back in love with them. Granted, I’ve always been on the flavored side of things. Think Dominican vanilla and the like. I joined the Army when I was 19, and once again lost touch with the hobby.
Fast forward to now, I’m traveling technician with a wife and kids. We’ve moved the mountains of western NC. I travel for work, so I bounce all over the county throughout the week, and get to kick back and relax on the weekends. It finally dawned on me there’s no better way to relax than with a cigar. I swung by a local cigar shop, and picked up a Kuba Kuba, and decided I may not be into the flavored thing anymore. I’ve since purchased a 16L Wineador and finally have it seasoned and ready for some good cigars! I’m not really sure where to go as the options are endless, and pretty much everything I get, I will have to order as my closest true cigar shop is about 2 hours away. I figured turning to the community for ordering guidance was the best path forward!
Hi Seth, welcome to the forum. Samplers can be a good way to find out what you like. You can also check out the what are you smoking threads here to see what people are smoking.
Here's some good links for cigars we rated highly (Top 25), these tend to stronger cigars which may not fit well with you palate, at least now, but it's worth checking out:

Thank you! That’s what I’m not completely sure of, I don’t know if it’s strength I like. I’m not huge fan of an ashy, or spicy smoke. So I don’t know if that comes with strength, or flavor profile. The options are insane, and stepping into the world of unflavored has been an eye opener!
@Sethbanks711 Welcome!
I find boutique brands are the best!
Cavalier, Matilde, Blackbird are my top 3 go to brands. Most are medium body(some med to full), but all have been enjoyable sticks for me!
I enjoy going into cigar shops and just discovering anything that not every single shop has. You can definately order online of course, but if you travel, you may be able to luck up and find them! Regardless, I'm sure you will find something great. The other comment on here about sampler packs is a great idea too!
Most botl start out mild and work their way up to strength. I started out mild and quickly found I prefer medium and med-full, with a full and a glass of whiskey on a Saturday night. A good way to start out is to buy 2 of whatever stick you are trying. One to smoke and one to put away for a few months. Revisit it then and see if you like it more or less than the first time.
For now, mild-med is a good starting point. Mild will be too mild in a short time. Also, cigars get milder as they age over the years. Don't stock up on the milder cigars. A 5 year old mild cigar will have little to no flavor. You will move on to stronger cigars. If you have a few of one stick that is too strong for you, put them in the back of your winador and forget about them for a couple years. You may find them to your liking later on. As an example of this, when I was a noob I bought a sampler of My Father cigars. I smoked 2 and didn't like them. Too strong and peppery. I gave them to my brother. Fast forward a couple years and now I like those cigars.
Anyway, welcome aboard. Don't be afraid to ask questions but be prepared for some oddball answers. We have a lot of wize-**** and curmudgeon on the forum who like to have fun with the noobs. Have a thick skin and enjoy the forum. You won't find a better bunch of people than this group.

@ShawnOL Thank You! I've been into cigars for going on a year and a half now. I have a stressful job so I needed something to give me some chill time and cigars are perfect! I love boutique brands, a large part of that is supporting the "new guy" and they have some great sticks! And I also enjoy the hunt for them because they are not readily available everywhere. Lol. Love the forum so far and the genuine friendliness of everyone!

Welcome, Seth. Checking the cigars folks are smoking on the daily threads will give you some ideas of what to try.
