They believe that African Americans “constitute an elite class within American society with special rights,”

Lot of that going around lately. Every group thinks they're special and should have "extra" privileges not afforded to others.

You're also apostrophe privileged. I can't use that many in that post. Why should you?

Then they want to go out and tell the world how racist they are.

You might want to read up on the Highland Clearances. Everything they did to your ancestors, they did to mine first. That's how they got so good at it. Burnt 'em out, murdered their wives and children, took the land they'd lived on for thousands of years. Replace the tribal people with sheep and "civilized" people, same as they replaced the Native Americans with cattle. And they all had the same skin color.

All in the name of progress, and manifest destiny. Sound familiar?

That begs the question... is there a difference between one group conquering another group because they want more land/resources/slaves and then another group that wipes out a group because they perceive their victims to be an inferior race?

The Scots and Irish were considered an inferior "race". There were many so called scientific articles written at the time about the inferiority, the probable likelihood of descendancy from neanderthals, etc. "Closer to the Apes" was a common theme. As well as descriptions like "savage", "lazy", "Immoral". Same old story.

In no way should anything I said above be construed as meaning to downplay what was done in the Americas. I'm just pointing out that yes, everyone on the planet has been discriminated against at some point in history. Some worse than others, but all have fallen prey in their time to the lies of inferiority by race or religion.

We should neither forget the past, nor dwell in it. We who are alive today have the marvelous advantages of education and communication that will hopefully lead us past all of the ignorant prejudices of the bygone eras. There are geniuses, and idiots, saints and monsters in every one of the so-called races.

We are but one race all across the planet now. Australopithicus Robustus, Neanderthal, Cro-magnon, Denisovian, all are now gone, or blended into the one Human Race. It is my lifelong hope and most earnest prayer that we will take advantage of this time in history and start acting like we understand that we are one people on this one planet, and that we need to take care of each other, and the planet, before it's too late.

Time's running out. Let's become the change, today.

I think the latter is usually justification for the former, much like why wars are fought over resources and Corporate interests but justified by ideology

    Right?
Cause native americans never battled other tribes for land.
If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell.

Oh they'll tell you that the land doesn't belong to them, but several tribes battled over land or territory.

Every race in the world has enslaved people. Every single one.
Some may have called them servants or indentured servants, but they were slaves, all the same.

I had someone tell me that any military rifle should be considered an assault rifle.

So if the definition of an assault rifle is a military or military "looking" rifle, then it would be safe to assume that people think any military rifle is an assault rifle? Yes?

So these rifles would be "assault" rifles? They don't look like assault rifles, but they are military rifles and were used in a war.

I have hunted with these 2 types of rifles for over 45 years.

@0patience I teach this form of tired rhetoric in my basic writing course. We are going to enhance our argument by picking on what I call "the weak kid on the playground."

You heard somebody who knows nothing about the topic make an illogical argument because, like I said, they know nothing about the topic. While that strengthens your side with everyone who advocates for your side, savvy people, who you should really be trying to convince, roll their eyes and look away from your obvious red herring.

Likewise, There are plenty of people on your side that have epically stupid reasons as to why every private citizen should own any military grade weapon in the world, to include biological and nuclear weapons.

So you making the argument that you just made would be like me saying there are gun advocates out there who think mustard gas should be legal.

Both arguments are stupid, and neither are worth mentioning to an audience that is generally in the know already.

I mean, I understand what the title of this thread is. Still, I'm not going to fill it up full of Alex Jones conspiracy theories because nobody actually takes that s*** seriously.

My point, which you so eloquently missed, was that you cannot categorize every gun into one category, just as you cannot do that with people.
Mustard gas is illegal. You lost me on that one.
Again, you read into something, what is not there.

You seriously have a hard on for anyone who supports guns.
    Seriously.

I knew you'd be one of the first to reply and you did not disappoint. ROFL!

But I'm just a simpleton, what do I know? ;):D

I have no idea who Alex Jones is or how it is even relevant to anything.

I have no idea who Alex Jones is or how it is even relevant to anything.

My point, which you so eloquently missed, is that nobody with actual knowledge of the topic or power to influence anyone really classifies all guns into one category.

You "had someone tell you" something and you went off on a rant. Red herring.

Then you attack me because of my anti-gun views, putting words in my mouth like "simpleton" and "hard on," which I never said, thought, or inferred. Then your sidekick posts a meme alluding to my existence as a "whiny little bïtch." Classic.

I'm the one with a hard on?

I am not anti-gun. I have owned guns. I have shot guns. I have carried and used guns in my professional life. I support private ownership of firearms.

I do not support divisive language and flawed argumentation, both of which were in abundance in your first post and in your reply.

I suspect that, in your heart of hearts, you really knew I would jump on your post because the argument was flawed and is nothing more than a distraction to the core of the debate on firearms.

Go back and look through all of my posts on this subject. My mantra has always been "poor argument" and "own your own solution before someone else does."

No hard on, no simpletons. Just a whiny little bītch trying to instill a little discipline into the conversation.

Sure are, on both sides, which is what I constantly say. Luckily, none of those people matter or can influence large blocks of people to make it matter.
