i neglected to put the carafe back into the coffee brewer this morning. The brewer didn't care and happily made 10 cups of coffee anyway.
I HATE when that happens.

Oh, no!!! And you had a perfect year going, Edward!!!
Went to bed at 9:30 instead of 12:30. Power came back on during the night, was on at 2:30 when I got up to make a river (that was our G-rated way of saying pee when we were 4 years old). Got the extra hour of sleep and got up at 7am.
It makes me think of the devastation in Ukraine, and my discomfort of losing electricity for an evening, contrasting that with unimaginable hardship.

Normally I would have just stacked 5 gallon pails up and climbed on them. This time I put a stack of pallets and a step ladder, to be safer! Stepped onto to the ladder off the pallets, next thing I knew, I was on the floor! Hit my head on some tubs of ice cream! ER doc says nothing broke, cat scan on head all good! Going to hurt for a while though!
Hope your feeling better.

On my AM walk I cut through the woods to our county fairgrounds. Must have been a hundred folks parked and waiting. I asked a cop what was up and he said" bringing in the Christmas tree" I Saw a big semi rig coming up the hill and found it was carrying the tree bound for the White House. More trucks were behind it and when they all pulled in the crowd descended on the caravan. Lots of high school rotc, folks wearing Santa hats and other madness. I bolted back into the woods and took the long way home.
I generally go for a 30min walk five days out of the week, and I often like to wave at the people driving by, just to see if they will. Today all eight of them waved back at me. Sometimes, they pretend they didn't see me. Other times they'll start to put their hand up to wave but then you can see their brain say "I don't know that weirdo, I'm not waving hi" and they pull their hand down. It's all great fun. And today I was 8 for 8. Maybe I can change the world; everybody will start waving to everybody and we'll all be friends and everybody will forget for a minute that the world really sucks.
Learned that I could pull the actuating arm off a weight on wheels switch with a pair of $15 camlock installation pliers (which I’ve owned for years and haven’t used for this task) instead of the $100 miniature gear pullers I bought 3 years ago specifically for doing this exact thing.
I'm still troubled by what I did for that Klondike bar...

I finally got around to changing out the delta shower cartridge in our main shower today. I was unable to get the handle off the old one so I cut off the handle with a reciprisaw and installed the new cartridge. The new cartridge didn't fit, so I had to take off the bottom section of the old cartridge and clean it up removing all the sediment and limescale that had built up to use on the new cartridge. Of course California no longer allows the brass color shower hardware so I had to replace it with a whole different Chrome colored kit.
It's working great now, plenty of pressure, I even replaced the water filter cartridge before the shower head so I'm happy. The only brass accent left in the bathroom is the frame for the shower doors and the bathroom sink faucet.

They're saving the brass to make more brass holes to fill up their legislature.

My son's making dinner tonight, started at 5. I figured I'd wait to jump on the vHerf until after I ate, but it's going on 7 now and I'm starting to get hungry. Smells good, though. I'm sure it's something ambitious, I hope that he didn't use all the pots and pans making dinner since I'll be on clean-up duty.

Went up to my studio this AM. Walking up hill was tenuous in the freezing rain. Painted for five hours. Trying to get a 3D image that is really 2D. I'm getting it figured out a bit. Cold color recedes and warm color advances. Learning new stuff about how colors go together or compete. Eyes are drawn to lighter colors first. Lots to learn. I get my canvases at the thrift stores. I buy existing pictures and gesso [undercoating] over them. Learning new stuff is great.
I was on a walk in the cold this AM. I was on a old logging trail along a free flowing little branch. I heard something moving parallel to the trail about 50 yards up hill. Pretty good sized buck and the sun glinted off a head full of horns. I watched and figured I jumped the deer out of his bed on the south facing slope. The buck went out of sight but I found where he came down and kicked up leaves on the trail to sneak into a Rhododendron thicket.

Isn't it just for brass that contains lead?
They said it would be cold this morning, but by "cold" I didn't think they meant this cold!
Perhaps, Amazon didn't elaborate.
