My grandson is now missing both of his front teeth. The second one came out during soccer practice, and he runs up to his mom and says "HERE MOM, COACH SAID I COULD GIVE THIS TO YOU. OKAY, GOTTA GO." He put it in his microscope specimen jar when he got home, to study it under the scope.
Up at 4:30. One over easy egg and grits. Up to my studio for a press with some of Peter's famous beans and a Little Devil. Painted till 7 and made a color decision I have been putting off. Decided it is too wet to walk. Used a big green ball to do crunches. Used the pull down/out machine to work my back. Used the bench to hit legs, chest, and back. Went to the dumbbell rack for shoulders, arms, traps, and sides. Climbed on the bike for 40 minutes and read while cardio. Picked green beans, cucumbers, squash, fennel and thyme. Brined a chicken and spiced it. Sat down and wrote this rant. Think I need a nap.
You are an inspiration Rodger. It time for me to stand up or just lay down. Talked to a neighbor this morning who is in his 70's and still plays ball, has 6 doubleheaders on the schedule this week. I'm not sure I want to be that healthy but I suppose it would be ok to get by another couple months.
On my morning walk I cut up to the fairgrounds. Folks were setting up a draft horse pull. It is the fifth year for this event. I didn't stay for the event but I took a look at the horses and the weighted sleds the teams would be pulling. Lots of concrete blocks on the sleds and the horses are BIG. Nice to be rural.
When my brother was in high school, he worked at dairy farm and had a plant growing behind the barn. Had to use a chainsaw to cut it when it started growing above the barn and was visible to the highway.
Don't let the wife know what you spend on guns, ammo or cigars.
Pops wandered off yesterday, we found him about a half mile down the road with his two water buckets he uses to water the plants out back. First time but I guess we knew it was coming.
On my AM walk I cut up to the fairgrounds. The grounds are being set up for the county fair this coming weekend. All the rides, big tents to cover livestock cages, performance stages, and food stalls were being set up on the fairgrounds 35 acre field. I dropped down on some old logging trails and did my hour and a half walk in the woods. I climbed back up to the grounds and was on my way out when I was pressed into service to catch a chicken that had gotten loose. It was a black hen that proved to be illusive. After 20 minutes of trying to catch that bird it was finally cornered under a table and a 10 year old girl grabbed it's legs. Alls well that ends well. Started to think about fried chicken on the way home.

Edit: please don't take my comment wrong, I have swung enough hay hooks to know crap can happen.
@dirtdude if there was hay or fish involved I see your point but from what I got from the story they were fŭcking around in the garage
Extremely lucky it didn’t have some kind of barb on it

@11thGenSoutherner, looks tasty. How long will it take until it's ready to eat?

Follow up question: How long have they been in the pickling juice so far?
Maybe 2 months. I keep adding things and having to add more juice as I go. I alternate between different 1/2 gallon jars

It's good to see you're relaxing today, Rodger.

Shawn, you will learn as you get into your 70's that it becomes "use it or lose it" time.

I only need to stay healthy enough to pour myself a drink and light a cigar. Oh, and make it to the 🚽 in time.

Those are covered pot plants in the background. My brother's tenant seems to have a green thumb.

I would say so. Those are massive! I thought you had a pest problem with fruit trees. 😆

We played the card game "Pick Your Poison" after dinner and I won.
Be a shame if that fire got outta hand 👀….the neighborhood would probably be in a good mood for awhile though 😂
Until the local grocery store runs out of Doritos.
picked green beans and summer squash and a ton of weeds from the neglected garden.
