They don't have to be effective, only the appearance of effectiveness.

The illusion of one migh have eased my mind a bit last night. First time I was brave enough to grab a bite to eat in 3 months, halfway truth meal and drink a wild animal sits 3ft away and as I tell her to move she starts hacking with no cover... I couldn't run fast enough

Florida governor Desantis misspeaks regarding COVID-19 stats and the Orlando airport staff, so media jumps all over his asss, then the Airport Authority clarifies what Desantis was meaning to say... "Hey, Liberal Media - You got egg on your face." "Nobody who follows our tweets cares if we're wrong - they just want to hear some governor with an R behind his name has egg on his face."

I'll be 74 soon so mask and gloves for me whenever I venture out. I stay away from naked faces. I don't quite get the resistance to wearing masks as I view it not as a personal decision but a societal one. Masks save Amercan lives.
I remember all the resistance seat belts got when they appeared but we use them now. Motorcycle helmets went through the same stuff.
    Sure helps to live rural.

Tuscaloosa City Councilor Sonya McKinstry told ABC News that students have been organizing these events as "COVID parties" at which they intentionally infect each other.

"They put money in a pot and they try to get COVID. Whoever gets COVID first gets the pot. It makes no sense," McKinstry told the network. "They're intentionally doing it."

Makes perfect sense....they're KIDS! Kids are, for the most part, not all that swift.

I'm still troubled by what I did for that Klondike bar...

Texas GOP to go ahead with state convention in virus hotspot Houston
Over opposition from doctors and some local party activists, the Texas GOP is moving ahead with a three-day convention starting July 16 in Houston, one of the nation’s coronavirus hotspots,

Party leaders voted Thursday night to stick with an in-person gathering that is typically one of the largest political conventions in America, drawing thousands of attendees. Some supporters suggested that changing plans is not what President Donald Trump would want.

The vote came hours after Republican Gov. Greg Abbott issued a statewide mask order as COVID-19 hospitalizations in Texas set another high Thursday. Hospitals in Houston have warned they are becoming stretched and the Texas Medical Association has called for cancelling the convention, saying now was not the time to pack thousands of people indoors.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, a Democrat, has left the decisions about the convention up to the GOP.

In Nashville TN the annual 4th of July Freedom Festival and Fireworks show has been cancelled by the mayor for fear of the spread of the covid virus.

The BLM rally to take place at the same time and space has been given the go ahead.

"Importantly, uncovered emulated coughs were able to travel noticeably farther than the currently recommended 6-foot distancing guideline. Without a mask, droplets traveled more than 8 feet; with a bandana, they traveled 3 feet, 7 inches; with a folded cotton handkerchief, they traveled 1 foot, 3 inches; with the stitched quilted cotton mask, they traveled 2.5 inches; and with the cone-style mask, droplets traveled about 8 inches. The major genetic risk factor for severe COVID-19 is inherited from Neandertals

"A recent genetic association study (Ellinghaus et al. 2020) identified a gene cluster on chromosome 3
as a risk locus for respiratory failure in SARS-CoV-2. Recent data comprising 3,199 hospitalized
COVID-19 patients and controls reproduce this and find that it is the major genetic risk factor for
severe SARS-CoV-2 infection and hospitalization (COVID-19 Host Genetics Initiative). Here, we
show that the risk is conferred by a genomic segment of ~50 kb that is inherited from Neandertals and
occurs at a frequency of ~30% in south Asia and ~8% in Europe. "

My doctors release to go back to work stated not to be around people as becoming infected would be fatal even thought my last labs show up to the minimum of being normal. Now I have to try to work from home for at least 2 months

Well then you gotta work from home.
I only go into the office every other day, but do not see customers face to face. Only electronic shipment processing. For the rare Military member that comes in, it is only at the window that has a plexiglas shield. Military moves can all be handled electronically today and freight I only schedule pick ups and issue Bills of Lading.
Everyone stay safe, this crap can really put a hurting on you

I’ll be doing purchasing until I can go back. It’s hard to supervise production offsite.

    Understand that
Luckily I can do 80% or better of my job from home.
Tomorrow I will learn if I can do a bit more
Glad you are not out of work though. There are some people really hurting now that Miami is going on lock down again
