Webmost's quote has been shown frequently on TV, teaser for a film about Ali. In the teaser, you can watch and listen to Ali saying it.Just strikes me as odd to use that quote. Sounds like he was trying to quote JFK and misspoke (Ali, my opinion). I’m not saying he didn’t have to over come many hardships but he did refuse to enter the service. I’m pretty sure there are a lot of men and woman who paid the price for freedom and never got the chance to speak that same phrase.

I was in the garage doing something when I heard Ali on the garage boobtoob between college football plays... so it was prolly the film trailer.
I ducked the draft myself, college deferment & all, but I wasn't giving up the heavyweight championship along with all the heavyweight fame, choice trim, and mucho moolah, so I never deserved to speak that phrase.
As with so many human dilemmas, both sides have merit. Those who fought in that war deserve respect but those who dodged that awful sham did right too.
Thing is, despite who utters what truth, when Ali says it ears perk up.
“It has been a source of great pain to me to have met with so many among [my] opponents who had not the liberality to distinguish between political and social opposition; who transferred at once to the person, the hatred they bore to his political opinions.” —Thomas Jefferson (1808)

Draft dodgers went to Canada, Ali went to court.

Ali went to court. Clay would have went to Canada or jail

The Paradoxical Commandments (a version of which found written on the wall at Mother Teresa’s)
by Dr. Kent M. Keith
• People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
• If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
• If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
• The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
• Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
• The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
• What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
• People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
• Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

“Those who wish to seek out the cause of miracles and to understand the things of nature as philosophers, and not to stare at them in astonishment like fools, are soon considered heretical and impious, and proclaimed as such by those whom the mob adores as the interpreters of nature and the gods. For these men know that, once ignorance is put aside, that wonderment would be taken away, which is the only means by which their authority is preserved.”
― Baruch De Spinoza, Ethics5
