Wishing I had a blueberry pie.
Wife noticed it was Pi Day and is making a strawberry rhubarb apple pie. Didn't have any blueberries in the deep freeze. Happy Pi Day everyone!

There I wasโฆ.snoring away, dreaming happily, when the damn phone jolts me awake. Iโm not on call anymore; this midnight call does not bode well, thinks I. Sure enough, through my sleep addled two brain cells comes Katieโs voice saying something about hot water and gurgling noises. After several attempts at lucid conversation, the gist of the matter is her heating oil tank has run dry and the boiler is in a reset loop. Itโs -15, after midnight and I get to drag my pump, hoses & drums out to get her fired back up. 60 chilly gallons later (the gas stations here have heating oil pumpsโฆ4 bucks a gallon no less) i get her heat going again and can just manage a couple hours sleep before work. I truly have no idea how I did that on call debacle for four yearsโฆ
I'm still troubled by what I did for that Klondike bar...9 -
Some one lives in Alaska and doesn't know to religiously check the heating oil level? you should ask, if she understands the process of natural selection.

My brother just bought a Bluetooth meter reader that communicates with your cell phone. He's hoping it has an alarm function that warns when getting low. I'll report back when I hear more.

I just got home from the oral surgeon a half hour ago after having 4 teeth extracted. I guess things wear out and/or get to the point where they're not worth saving. The plan is to put in 3 implants when things heal up and the bone grafts take hold.
When I had the consultation w/ the guy a couple of months ago I told him I like a cigar in the evening and asked how it could affect things. I knew that sucking and using a straw was bad as it can open the site, so I suggested a week off of the smokes. He kind of shrugged and said yeah, as if to imply a week is good, give or take. So I asked him again today how I might know when I could return to my cigars, and he said just knock it off for a week. I asked him if that's the same thing he says to cigarette smokers and he said no; the nicotine and additives make long-term healing slower than cigars and with cigars, it's pretty much just the negative pressure of the draw that affects the wound site.

Sounds like you could smoke a cigar with a really loose draw and be fine. Hope youโre feeling alright Peter.

I lit one up as soon as I got in the car after pulling 2. No problems!

Saw five big hawks riding the thermals above the ridge behind my studio. They are on their migration north.

Turns out the electrician is into cigars and whiskey. He normally smokes backwoods and the occasional acid blondie. He says hes into fairly mild stuff so I gave him a hoyo Excalibur and my last breakfast in portugal.

So my plate cooler that cools my mix blew a gasket last Friday. Been shut down all week waiting for said gasket! This morning, they tell me I can just take out the 2 affected plates, with only a small loss of cooling capacity. Why didnโt they tell me that last Friday?!! Back together and tested now, and back to production on Monday! Have to take it apart again( no easy task ) when the gasket comes in!

This is the Leprechaun trap my son made today. He chose the box himself. I think he made an apt selection.

If that gasket is scarce & takes weeks to get, before you install the new gasket, make a template from it. There has to be sheet food grade silicone or similar you could cut a replacement from so youโre not down for a while or operating at lowered capacity. And youโd only have to disassemble Number 5 onceโฆ

Thanks Paul! I may look into that. The gasket is in stock, but can only be bought through an authorized dealer. Customer service being what it is these days, it was only an emergency to me! In all fairness, the unit is very reliable. Iโve had it since 1988, and this is only the second time Iโve had to deal with a blown gasket! Pretty good! And we are slow right now, so being down didnโt hurt too much! I was just whining! @Trykflyr_1

I bought a cheap HF Titanium brand TIG welder, and did some welding for the first time since 1982.
Next year I'll fix my snowblower all by me-self.

What happened in 1982

@Jrflickster, if you are responding to my welding post, I was in 9th grade in the vocational-agriculture curriculum in high school, and we had a shop class including welding (stick). I switched curriculums in 10th grade, and haven't welded since then.
