Noticed a lot of Yellow Jackets lately. They are bad this time of year. Looked around and finally found the nest. They were trying to get into the house! The nest was under the sill on a porch. Couldn't reach the nest with hornet spray. I was stumped. My other found a way on u tube. I set up a shop vac and put four inches of water and Dawn soap in the vac barrel. Extended the hose to the nest opening and let her rip. In two hours the inside the vac was carpeted with yellow jackets. Took two days just but I got them. Just running the vac every now and then.

I think they can smell fear and interpret it as a threat. We had a large colony under the barn a few years ago. I used to sit on the stairs during breaks from work and kept wondering why all these critters kept flying back and forth past my legs. It helps to be clueless about what's going on . Anyway, we got along just fine.

Talked to a lady during the food pantry, she feeds a bunch of 18 racoons on the back porch nightly. Says they haven't caused any problems. Maybe you just need to feed them.

40 mile (pedal) bike ride today. At the turnaround point, my front tire got off the side of the gravel trail, which I should have just allowed and followed into the grass, but I tried to get it back, and the edge of the trail gave way, putting me down. I braced with my left hand, but rolled over my hand and hyper-extended my pinkie and ring finger. Ugh, it hurts.
Set this up in the kitchen above the cabinets over the sink.
Dug two 2’ deep post holes and boy did it wear me out with all the rock. Went old school to work by lantern light too. Just so I could see how the ol grave diggers had to do it.
Also got our 12’ skeleton, 40’ of graveyard fence, tombstones, 12’ witch and cauldron set up.
