Went to brew a pot of Peter’s coffee, coffee maker bit the dust halfway through the brew.
Now that's strong coffee! Killed the coffee maker.

I went through a drive-through and my order came to $7.12. I gave the young man a dime and two pennies plus a $100 bill. He left to make change and came back with my order and handed me my change without counting it out. They never count out your change like they used to, but they still should. Especially when it's change for $100. I asked him to wait a minute and let me count it. First I noticed he handed me $.12 back. I handed that right back to him. Next, I counted the bills. He had given me $50 in tens, and $50 in fives. I said “wait a minute, you gave me $100 back”. He said, “I did?”. I told him “Yes, let me count it again to be sure. Yep, you gave me $100 back. Let me give you $10 and you give me three dollars back and we’ll be square”. He seemed totally lost but trusted me to keep it straight. Afterwards I looked at the receipt and if he had just paid attention to what it said he would have correctly given me $93.88 as if to make change for $100, (ignoring the twelve cents). I suppose they don’t get to handle cash payments enough to be proficient at it anymore.
Just finished loading big and little branches into my trailer. Three trailer loads. Took them down the road and unloaded off the side on our property. Still cleaning up after Helene. I still have about four hours of chainsaw work yet to do.
Around here the first consideration when going somewhere is " is the place where I'm going still standing? Two out of three of our local post office's are still not working. Our friend in Asheville still has undrinkable water. Bridges are still out.
Changed my oil/filter, topped off my battery and put some air in the tires. Then, riding this monster wave of momentum, I went over my lawn with the mower/bagger and cleaned up the leaves. Yay. This Tat hitting the spot.
Had to get the wood stove in my studio up and running this morning. 62 yesterday morning and 31 this AM. My stove is cast iron double wall Vermont American with a two speed blower. Takes a while to get hot but holds heat well. Now I have a pile of offcuts to split for kindling.

That must be why I see those convenient six packs of Hanes for sale on Amazon, for those that only want to wash their clothes twice a year.

The annual game I play to see how long I can go without turning on the furnace is over. It was 49° in the house when I got home 🥶
I play this same game. I must be getting softer as I get older, I lost like 3 or 4 weeks ago.
same here with the wood stove, been occasionally taking the chill off when the temp indoors drops below 60.

I've got a bit of an advantage having worked in a 33° cooler for half the day for a long time.
