Hey everyone, newbie here. I've been smoking cigars randomly(mainly celebrations) for many years. Since it was few and far between I always went with the same cigar I knew I liked. However, for the past couple months I have been smoking regularly so I started trying to have a more diverse selection. I bought a humidor and have been buying the sampler packs to find one's I like because I have no idea what brands are good or not. I really enjoyed the CAO La Travista and the Romeo by R&J so I bought packs of those. Looking through the threads you guys seem to have a lot of knowledge about cigars I had no idea existed. I have learned a lot over the past week or so reading through the posts and look forward to learning a lot more.
You're in a great place and great time as a cigar smoker because there is a lot out there for every preference. A lot of smaller companies have begun importing solid budget cigars, well-established (bigger) brands are working harder to attract the more boutique customer, and assuming no more insane hurricanes hit tobacco growing areas, we'll have some pretty amazing crops available in the next year or two.

Hello everyone. I've been lurking for about a week. Just reading all the threads. Finally decided to say hi.
I kind of got into cigars by accident. I've always picked up a cigar when going to Mexico (now I learned that they've all been fake). I never fully invested though. Just smoked it and didn't think about it anymore. It wasn't until my last trip to Miami that the cigar bug bit me. Walking through little Havana watching the guys hand roll. I bought a few from a couple different places .
Then I got hooked when my buddy gave me some down there also. So now I had about 10 cigars or so. (come to find out the cohibe's were fake too) but by the time I've already ordered a humidor, humidor solution, digital hygrometer, and a few more sample packs online (at least I know those are not fake haha).
Had to send the (cheap) humidor back, even though it looked great. It wouldn't hold humidity. So then I learned about tupperdors. So all that should be arriving today. I have my collection in a temp Tupperware with a boveda. I'm already looking at a wineador too. Now my collection is past 25 and I'm hunting for authentic Cubans lol.
Well anyways that's my story. Thanks for all the info you guys provide here.
Welcome @Lostwages I'm glad we don't have to start from scratch with you. are you in Vegas? Frank's in Vegas. We had to start from scratch with that dude. @VegasFrank
Thanks for the welcomes guys. This has been the most informative forum I've found so far.
@Bob_Luken from what I've read you seem to be the most active and the forum authority around here lol. I'm not from Vegas I just picked that name cause I'm spending all my money on cigar stuff right now. I've been researching for the last 2 weeks or so. I'm still wet behind the ears but picked up quite a bit.

Welcome @Lostwages , the best way to give advice in one sentence regarding the forum, in my opinion:
Keep your cigars in plastic containers with bovedas as you are doing, private message @Bigshizza and ask to buy a sampler, don't buy more than 5 of something that you've never tried before until you figure out which blenders you like/trust, and enjoy the journey.

It must be a lot of work switching profiles between grumpy old guy and new burner account lackey...
